I usually order from Ideal hatchery, but they seem to be out of every breed I want. I looked and it seems the next closest hatchery is Privett in NM. Anyone have experience with them?
if so do you remember how long the chicks were in transit?
with Ideal hatchery I always get the chicks in less than 24 hours.

Normally I would not hesitate to postpone, however I already ordered them. For the last 2 weeks we have had a visitor (aka stray dog) decimate the flock. For the first visit we never saw the dog, however the second time it returned my husband saw it, and saw how it got through our fence. Needless to say the dog won’t be returning.Not familiar with Privet. You might search or post in the "Chicken Breeders & Hatcheries" forum here on BYC if you haven't already. Could you postpone ordering until springtime when weather and breed availability might work more in your favor? Just thinkin'...
