Texas

Christmas is over, new years is on its way. The year has flown by. I hope everyone is enjoying/tolerating the season. I personally cannot wait for it to end. I burned leaves this evening, and have more to pick up. Currently have 5 piles by fire ring, gonna gather more tomorrow and hopefully get them all burned tomorrow. Waterer was still from tonight, I managed to get it empty, dismantled, more ice removed, reassembled and refilled. Done for the day. Tomorrow is another challenge

Hello Everyone,

We purchased 4 Silky Chickens from Tractor Supply. 1 is 6 Months old Rooster, the other 3 are 3 months and Roosters (We believe). It was just our luck that all 4 were roosters. As we have no other chickens (hens) We have no use for them. No cost if anyone can come pick them up here in Lubbock, TX. Need all 4 gone by Aug 28th.View attachment 3235443
I still have one rooster remaining if anyone in the Spring,TX area would like to pick him up. Free of charge. We really do not want to have to put him down. Please anyone who has room. He’s a really good Rooster. We just unfortunately are now in an HOA that does not allow Roosters.

Such a simple upgrade to plumbing.
A union ball valve in one assembly.

Was slightly confused why the water pressure at kitchen sink spontaneously dropped to a low flow. After about 10-15 minutes went to inspect - outside in the very chilly air.

Water line had shattered, at a 90* point of main pipe & filled an area of ground to at least 75 gallons of water. I discovered shortly after it cracked (shattered) and started flooding.

Went out to wellhouse, turned off the ball valve for supply to all outside spigots & sprinkler system.

Problem temporarily solved in about 45 seconds. Checked everything else in the wornout wellhouse. All safe. Went inside and relaxed. Repair of that outside pipe will be done when I do the transition to the wellhouse 2.0 in the coming months.

Plumbing is a blessing but a headache to maintain. Glad it was a simple fix.

We had a compression union in the septic line that kept slipping off. I finally got smart and put a real union in and solved so many issues. The PVC is flexible enough to solve a lot of issues.

Compression unions are only a gas vapor or air compressor use for me. And honestly, as a temporary or last resort. They never seem to really hold a seal for more than a year? If that?

Dude, I feel you're frustration and pain.

The frozen waterer was in run. 5 gallon, I had a 2 gallon in coop that got ice but wasn't froze. The dogs 5 gallon was froze also. A solid block of ice. I filled run up on Wednesday, yesterday I noticed it empty. Went to fill and it was still full, with a block of ice floating, so dumped it, took it apart, there was more ice, got that out, reassembled, filled and pooh, birds got water. Electric went out last night around 11.12ish I called to report it, got a call at 4 a.m. it's back on.burned leaves ALL day, just took a soak bath, still smell smoke (I think it in my nose sinuss) ni put in a call for vaporizer (niece has it) and gonna wrap myself in vicks-but the piled leaves are burnt. Tomorrow pile and burn more
