The frozen waterer was in run. 5 gallon, I had a 2 gallon in coop that got ice but wasn't froze. The dogs 5 gallon was froze also. A solid block of ice. I filled run up on Wednesday, yesterday I noticed it empty. Went to fill and it was still full, with a block of ice floating, so dumped it, took it apart, there was more ice, got that out, reassembled, filled and pooh, birds got water. Electric went out last night around 11.12ish I called to report it, got a call at 4 a.m. it's back on.burned leaves ALL day, just took a soak bath, still smell smoke (I think it in my nose sinuss) ni put in a call for vaporizer (niece has it) and gonna wrap myself in vicks-but the piled leaves are burnt. Tomorrow pile and burn more
Do you give any of the leaves to the chickens? When we had piles of leaves against the fence line we used to fill a few buckets and dump them in the coop. The girls loved digging through them.

Did anyone else get your chicks frm the callahans in austin? i got my girls there abt 7-8 months ago and they still havent laid and im wondering if it has something to do with the hatchery...(i got 2 chickens from a person who let her chickens hatch some out on their farm and theyre already laying)

Pictures of your ladies please. It's the time of the year, the days are slowly starting to get longer, so they should be gearing up to start laying

7-8 months, they may start laying today, or they wait til the days get longer. They decide-we just wait impatiently. I got mine early July, not laying yet, but I'm impatiently waiting . Pics would help us immensely.

I hatched mine in May and all 7 are laying quite well. They started in November and have perfected their technique. The cold weather did slow then down. The cold weather may have upset yours for a week, but the biological clock is ticking.

Pictures will tell us if you are waiting for rooster eggs. Has anyone started crowing? The 6 month mark is usually when they start sounding off.

Here's the egg, the white one, my older birds lay brown.
A pic of guilty bird? Not happening, she's blue andalusian (gray) and there's 9 of them. I could see a gray bird thru the plastic. All the birds were egg song singing......and most of the new ones "look" pol
