Why do I get a gut feeling no rain this year?

Because this winter is going like last winter. Too warm, too soon, then last summers endless days of hot and dry.
I'm feeling the same way.....
I feel winters over, we may have a few cold snaps (like now), then it warms back up.
My daffodils are coming up
A little early, roses putting on new growth.......

I'm about 30 minutes west of Fredericksburg, on some acreage. Closer, actually to both Kerrville and Harper, as the crow flies.

Been burning leaves. Had to stop, fire pit full of ash. SOOOO, tomorrow, empty ash into washtub to cool, and finish leaves. When ash is cool, it'll go into run for dustbath

I am finally finished with leaves! Next is ash disposal. I am in the spring clean mood , and have been straightening, organizing mode this a.m.
Between my daughter and I, we have lost 67 eggs in 2 days .
She bought 2 dozen at heb and put in fridge. Same day I cleaned nest boxes. Cleaned a box, new bedding, next box had eggs, put in clean box and cont. Eggs, clean refresh. When I was finished I had 8 Eggs, took dirty bedding to run, came back-i had 1 egg, and a happy full dog behind coop, a few eggshells hanging from snout.

Next morning daughter brings kids for me to babysit. 18 months and 3.
Later, I go to bathroom, daughter calls while I'm in there. She wanted to warn me, baby has learned to open fridge. He had put 2 doz eggs mustard and ketchup in middle of kitchen floor.
Minus 24 eggs.
I leave bathroom, baby in my fridge. 2 18 packs on floor, he is sitting , picking up "balls " and dropping tossing.
Minus 36.
This too shall pass

Started cleaning out the long garden bed yesterday, all grown up with grass. Shoveled out dirt, placed old singles in the bottom and redid landscape cloth, gotta finish the other half today. the giant fire ant bed is dead! It's smack dab in the middle

It looks fantastic! How did you kill fireants?

Thank you! My husband tried to put ants from 2 other colonies on there but they got whooped so I put down mound destroyer. If they're dead I'll shovel it out and throw it in the trash and go about my business.
