Texas

No dice on taking in the LGD. In brothers words we have to many useless animals.🤣 These are the cats. The many cats. Our cats that number 7. The one I gave away after his nuter because he wants to box my cats, and 4 kittens that will need homes when they are 12 weeks old. The chickens get a pass because they are not useless.

PS he loves the cats but the strays keep getting dropped off and I'm about done with that. Six was a bit much but I insisted they be spayed and neutered before I gave them away.

This roost is 6 ft off ground. That is my game hen with her two 5 week old babies. She has 1 tucked under each wing. Holding tight so they don't fall maybe?
I had some big old brahma mix chicks that started to roost on top of the coop at around 6 weeks. I couldn't reach them so after a couple of nights I had to block them. It's amazing where those Littles ones can get to.

One of my almost grown went to play with the dogs last week. And survived. Sore and half plucked. The only way to get over the fence is on top of the coop, which is too close to the fence.

Last night one was on top of the now empty quail coop. Prime owl bait. I put her in the coop.

The duck is still sleeping in the black eyed susans. Not sure what we will do once the flowers stop in a month. I get to mow all the stalks and get covered in seeds.

Folks are still pretty polite and mannered here (depending on where you are of course) and I love how you can drive for a whole day and watch the scenery change, but never leave the state.
That is a good one! I find there are plenty of good things to say about Texas, as long as we stay away from the weather and the flying bugs.
