Texas

I never go to Craiglist for fear I'll find something I can't live without. Not sure if anyone is interested in any livestock here but thought I'd share this ad if anyone was looking to expand into dairy goats, dairy cattle, geese, or some mixed layers.

Well, now I have something to show my neighbor. He was talking about getting a cow the other day. Thank you, for this.

I have BBS english orpington chicks again....they were supposed to all be spoken for, but the lady backed out and went and got chicks from TSC, ugh. These are all from Colt's stock, so ya'll know how beautiful they are going to be ;) :love I also have 2 favacauna/orp mixes that are the cutest things ever. PM me if you're interested

We're prepping for new chickens in our backyard in Permian Basin area of Texas. We're allowed 4 chickens by city ordinances plus we have a few cats and a chihuahua. Humidty is normally low but temps get up over 100 degrees every summer for several days in a row, sometimes weeks. The chickens will have plenty of shade. We were inspired by the Youtube channel Edge of Nowhere Farm in Arizona. They keep lots of poultry and other livestock on their acreage in the low desert. They provide plenty of shade and a trough filled with water for the chickens to stand in to cool their feet, allowing them to stay cool during the hotter hours. Interestingly, the "coop" is a loose affair of tarps and pallets put together in a corner of the large run so the chickens don't stifle from the heat that they would experience inside a wooden structure.
