Hi Martha. I was just in Austin with a friend on Friday night. She said she went on the recent chicken coop tour and was really impressed with the variety of solutions to backyard chicken keeping. Did you go or were you on it? I went from there to Beeville to Port Aransas and just got home a couple of hours ago. All I could think of was the impending arrival of my new babies. I got my little immediate brooder and my bigger secondary brooder all set up and ready to go. I'm off to Dallas on Thursday - back on Monday, the day my chicks ship. Can't wait!

This is certainly good motorcycle riding country, I hope you had a good time!

hi everyone, and welcome to the newbies.
i have not been able to be on much lately due to the wrk schedule but hopefully can get on more. I wrk mon threw thursday. 4am to 2:30pm and then get home and take care of our animals and Animal rescue my family and i run on our own. We have a great time though.
I just got me some more baby chicks this sunday 6 of them. Guienies I know that is spelled wrong. need to go and look up on how to spell it. They are soo cute and tiny. They are a week old now. We Found a copper head in our chicken coop last week and it got one of my baby EE's i was so mad. So I will need to go and get me one to replace the one i missed.

I have 3 RIR's, 1 RIR rooster, 1 leg horn, 7 other types of chickens that i do not know thier breed they were rescues along with these.
Well not my RIR'ds.. Then for babies i have 5 Barred Rocks, 4 Leg Horns sold a rooster, and now 4 EE's Hubby built them a play area off thier coop 2 weeks ago. Oh and 3 ducks to add to that. I will get pics up today if i can remember too. I need to make a an album. Another area to figure out lol and how to set up a page and what to put on it.

we are having a blast with our chickens and chicks. I would like to find some more full grown hens to give mine a little break. lol
