Texas

Hey ya'll. I posted an issue under the disease/injury topic about an eye issue spreading through my flock. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to have to put any of them down if I don't have to . . .

If it is an infection, put terramycin eye ointment in the eye twice a day until it goes away. If possible fowpox sores around the eye, iodine or another drying agent should help. Put it on with a Q-tip.

I am looking for Buff Orpington and/or Black Austrlorps hatching eggs. I live near Abilene and am wanting 18 eggs to hatch out of my new homemade bator! I have 15 hens and 1 roo, and am wanting to add to my flock!

Hey yall I just wanted to post this in here as well, thought I might increase my chances of finding someone. Thanks!

Wow a texas thread great to know there are lots more chicken lovers here

Hi Kim! How's Ashes doing? You would have loved the show this weekend, they had TONS of beautiful Silkies there.

It's not illegal to bring birds in from other states, but it is pretty difficult to get them in IF you go by the Ag laws.
I had a pair of Butterscotch Call ducks shipped from Illinois a few months ago and it was unreal the amount of paperwork/testing she had to go through to get them down here!
Our shows are not open to out of state exhibitors, which is really a shame.

From what I under stand is you can ship birds in But you can not drive them over in a car, Now if you go OKLA lets say, If you get health Papers on them from the vet you can take them to OKLA to show and bring them back ,I don't under stand why out of state birds can't come here but i know it is against the law for them out of state to come here,That is why all our shows are for TX , only, go figure, I know I can sell birds here all day long with no problem, But i can not go across the street and sell them, I can ship birds in from LA but I can not go to LA and pick them up and bring them here ,All I know the Law is all mess up

What a silly silly rule!
It would be so wonderful if we could host a big Poultry Event ... then everyone could see how nice everyone is in Texas!
If anyone knows a way to change the laws, I would like to help.

Thanks for asking about my little Ashes... I think she is doing better ... I switched her to Tylan 50 ... I am to scared to inject it so she is getting it in her mouth -- today, the weather was so pretty and sunny and she ran around in the sunshine all day and I am letting her sleep outside in her coop tonight, this is the first night since she got sick that she (and her buddies) have slept outside! I'm sure I will go out a dozen times to check on them

Morning, folks!

Thought I would share a picture of the Pencil Calls I got from Shawnee this past weekend-not as typey as what you expect from a Call, but this variety is still in the works.
Pardon the red-eye, they like to party out in the garage til all hours despite me telling them to keep it down out there!

The pictures don't do them justice-they are really beautiful. You'll get to see them soon!
I figured grays and whites would be the norm at the show so I'm going to bring a bit of color with me. I'm so excited about the show that I'm ready for Christmas and New Years to be over!
