No worries.

I am not sure about the ages. The hens have not started laying yet. I am not even sure if they are all hens.

The rooster is full grown. He is the main one I need to find a home for.

My yardman brought them to my house from a ranch where other chickens were attacking them. He did not tell me there was a rooster. He just put them in my yard.

They are very sweet. I would keep them all but I can't.

I lost my first chicken today. This afternoon between noon and 4pm something got through the netting over the run and killed one chicken my most gentle a 7 month old buff Polish hen also the prettiest chicken in my flockher name was "buffy the super model"
The netting was torn about 2 feet by 2 feet and the inside of the coop was in disaray. I have a double string of electric wire around the entire run and test it every day. What could get in during the day? any ideas?
The chicken was tore up pretty bad, head gone.

Cool! I really REALLY want some but I have to wait and see if my folks will give me the green light.

You said you were in the Hill Country but leaving for Houston... Is that permanently or for a visit? I live in San Antonio and am always looking for people close by that have chickens

SAKim, Going to Houston for work, just for the day. They are doing well here, getting fat and fluffy. It just looks like they are in a field.

Actually, I am in a neighborhood and my backyard backs up to a field. And now that the big rooster is getting comfy, he is starting to crow. A lot. And I have neighbors all around. It is not an obnoxious crow if he was on a farm, but in a neighborhood, the whole block can hear it.

I was feeling overwhelmed about all of them earlier. I need to relax.

But I would like to find a home for the rooster. I think at least one of the others he dropped off is a rooster, too. I am thinking "sweet pea" (the smallest) is actually an "urkel". And "Sheena" the white one with the punk rock hair, might be a rooster too. They are all just filling out and have all grown in just a week.

I think my yardman dropped off 3 roosters in my yard! And he doesn't speak English so when he asked me if I wanted them, I said "yes" but I do not really know what he was saying to be honest. I knew he asked me if I wanted the chickens, but he told me there were 6, and when he came to my house a few days later, he didn't even knock on my door...he just put them in my backyard and left. We looked out there and saw that big old roo! I was like "what the....". It was kind of funny for a week. And there were 7, not 6. He threw in that huge bonus rooster. And then I called the place where they all orginally came from, and they said they had to kill a rooster this week because they had to many...so I am stuck with the roo. Until I go to jail for it or something.

I had 7 Roos that came from my original 8 silkie chicks (thats my luck).
I fell madly in love with the Roos -- I think they are just the funnest things to watch -- much more interesting and loving than the girls!

Anyway, I put an ad on Craigslist and had many many requests for my Roos and my Roos were no where as regal as that adult in in your picture. There were so many requests -- most people seemed really really nice and weren't going to make stew out of my Roo-babies.

4 of my Roos went to an animal refuge (i liked that idea) in Nixon, run by a wonderful lady named Dorin.
The rest went to people who had room and loved silkies...

I hope you get the chance to get to know them a little longer before deciding what to do with them. To this day I still get really emotionally about getting rid of my Roos and wish I had kept one of them... Its funny because I was really paranoid about my neighbors getting upset w/ the crowing and I was all wrong... almost all of them have told me how they missed the sound of my Roos. I guess you just never know.
