Thanks for posting that Bearing1.
It sad (plus a lot of other descriptive words

) to see how these birds are being treated!!!!!
Glad to see that the Humane Society is getting some publicity for all they do for our voiceless friends.

I saw a TV program a few months back, the Humane Society was looking into some puppy mills (who serve a large chain pet store). There was video tape to show the deplorable conditions the dogs/puppies were kept in.

The more informed the public is, about this abuse, the better for ALL of us. The drive for money makes some people do unspeakable deeds.

I agree with you 100%, Bearing-and that's why I am so thankful that my birds ended up here with us on our little farm and not in some egg factory. I LOVE them all.

Kacey's Krazee's :

Hi Piecemaker!

Yes it seems you're very close !
I like that ! What kind of chickens do you raise? My newest ones are Delawares. Man !! I just have hatchery birds, but these little things are really friendly !!
I am really happy about that. Mine are mostly for pets. I am going to be looking for a couple of Cochin pullets this spring, so that I can have them brood our own eggs later.

Are you thinking of going to the Poulty show in College Station after the first of the year? I just heard about it on this thread. I am trying my best to talk my DH into going LOL. Maybe we could meet up somewhere and introduce ourselves.

Kacey I have 13 buff orps and a white banty silkie cross roo that is the proudest roo you will ever see, his name is Manchicken. The girls are just yard pets. They do seem to be a very broody bunch. We are on our 3rd set of chicks in the last few months. Won't be going to the chciken show. Hope you can talk DH into going.

ok, this may be one of the dumbest questions ever in the history of dumb questions ut here goes:

Will they have chicks for sale at the Chicken Show in College Station on January 8th?

thank you!

I don't think its a dumb question. I am soooo new to this. I always hear that people go to Chicken Shows and come back with new chickens. So far, I have been to 3 chicken shows and haven't seen any area where they are selling chickens. I saw somewhere that they are going to be able to sell chickens at the College Station Show...

Maybe someone who knows how this all works can explain it to all of Newbies !

Anyone know how it will work in College Station?

Thanks

Hi Kim!
My understanding is that there will be a sale area at the BCC show.
As far as anyone selling chicks, it's possible, but not likely due to the fact that the show is in January and there is really no way to keep them warm at these shows. Like Pigeon said, older chicks(2-3 months old, maybe).
Can't wait to see all of you there!

I am just now in the thinking stage of getting chickens. Plan to build a coop this Spring. I am building a house just outside Coldspring, Texas.
