Mornin', Texans! I mostly lurk on BYC and do research, but wanted to introduce myself. I am in the boonies near Temple and have one 9-month-old mystery hen (she was free!) that isn't laying yet and a big red Ameracauna rooster (who was free!) that, after our power struggle this morning, may be headed for freezer camp if I can't find someone who wants him. We are verrry slowly working up to homesteading less than half an acre, just wanting to provide food for my family and maybe sell anything extra. I'm looking for some laying hens in the area, or some that are close to laying, so that we can actually get some eggs and not just have freeloaders! If anyone is close by and wants the roo, I'd gladly trade him for a pullet or two, some chicks, some feed... whatever, make me an offer. I'd really like to find other chicken people in the area to share tips and resources.
