As for kiddie pools mine have two of those (well a third was too deep so they dont like it so Im not counting it) I just bought the second one a couple of days ago. But to them a splash is a splash!

Hi to all! I'm North of Leander and it has been around 100 for a bit now. Until this week the temp hadn't really been an issue. The girls seem to hibernate inside their coop during the heat of the day. Egg laying has been pretty consistent, but a few of them are slowing a bit. No worries.... if it ever cools down again, they will get back into a "normal rythm".

Hi everyone! I am new to BYC but not new to Texas. I grew up 10 miles from Shiner (yes, where they make the beer!) and now live 40 miles SW of Houston. We have 5 bantams...2 white Japanese hens, 1 Black Japanese hen, 1 self-blue D'Uccle (I think) hen, and 1 red Wyandotte roo. Also have 2 horses, 2 dogs, 5 barn cats plus a husband and 2 kids...busy, busy! So far we have gotten 2 eggs from our girls...super cute, tiny bantam eggs! Looking forward to making new BYC friends!

SHINER?? lol. My rooster's name is Shiner Bock. lol

I actually know someone else who grew up in Shiner .. her parents still live there ..

Maybe that is TOO small a world, huh?

(I'm glad you found the Texas Thread .. ~dw)

It certainly is a small world! My brother in law lives in Magnolia and I still have grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins in Shiner. We actually bought 60 acres near Shiner 2 years ago. We plan to move there someday...But for now jobs keep us somewhat near the city. We were able to find a small town (population about 2500) to live in and have a country lifestyle. I am really not a "city girl" at all! LOL! Kids love the room to roam and all the animals we can have. I wouldn't trade small-town life for anything!
