Does anyone have a recommended reading list for the newby?

I was thinking this to begin with: The Complete Guide to Raising Chickens: Everything You Need to Know Explained Simply, but decided to see if my experienced peeps could recommend anything better.

I went from section to section and read and soaked up all the info I could .. and if you don't see something, ask. Just try to ask in the proper forum so that the experts can help you ... Sometimes your friends on the Texas Thread can direct you ..

Mrs. Fluffy, I know how you feel, a couple weeks ago I put my bearded dragon outside, in her summer cage in the morning it got up to 110 that day, I got home from work hurried up and gave the chickens ice water then left for hour again, came home and checked on my Beardie but she had died.... I know how you feel because you say "if I had just" well all you can do is learn from that and keep lessons close to your heart. We all know if you could go back in time you would fill up the water and check on it that day, but you can not. You did not do it on purpose, we are all human and make errors, your animals know you did not mean harm and I am sure their lil chicken souls do not hold you responsible.

It happens & especially in this god forbidden heat. I went to a friends farm yesterday & wanted to stay longer but started thinking I gotta go because the birds probably need tending too. I barely made it in time they were dang near out of water. I think I'm gonna add more waterers. Don't beat yourself up over it. Maybe, add more waterers can't hurt that's for sure. My free range birds will never run out at least not in the summer because I have bowls that collect the water from the a/c drain & the ice maker drain.
