Texas

Lol we had some fierce thunder claps and high winds! Herded the flock of now 6 into their safehouse and what happens next? 5 min of sparce rain and then sunny day once again! All that werk fer nuffinz.... lol oh well at least they stayed dry!

We got several inches here, but mainly noise and lightning. LOTS of lightning. Blew out a power center as it hit dead on three times in a row. BAM BAM BAM. Heard it from the house 6 miles away!

We lost power off and on in the storm but it kept coming back on. Lightening was really bad last night and early this morning too. My poor roos I felt so bad for them when I peeked out the door and saw them sitting sopping wet. I have 2 hens sitting on eggs and 1 brooder full of baby chicks but not using the incubator this yr.

Next yr when we get a more stable AC unit where I can keep the room I will use to incubate in stable then I will start incubating eggs. I would like to just focus this yr on getting particular breeds and breeding pens for next spring.

The one's I really love a lot are Buff Orpingtons, Black Australorps, and White Leghorns.

Hi, I just saw your post for Tx, and wanted to say hello I live in the Piney Woods NE TX (Timpson) around Nacogdoches. I would love to be added to your list for TX. I would also like to know where to find out about area places like trade days to buy chickens and ducks. I think BYC is a great place full of useful information, I am so glad I came across it on the web.

I think I've decided which Silkie roo I'm going to give away, but now I have, of course, forgotten who wanted it..lol. I also have some EE roos and possibly 2 D'Uccle roos (1 Porcelain and 1 Mille Fleur). These guys are all around 4 mos old and very sweet, but the D'Uccles are skittish and the Porcelain is only 2 months old. The MF will come and eat out of your hand though. They have all been raised in mixed gendered coops and no one has started crowing or acting boyish yet. They are used to being around other chickens and being hand fed a snack at least once a day (squash, cucumbers, eggplant, bread with bread being their favorite) besides their feed.

FOR NORTH TEXAS PEEPS WITH ROOSTER KEEPING ABILITY...

I bought in March, 6 1-day old chicks. 2 Buff Orpingtons, 2 White Rocks & 2 Black Stars. Paid extra to have them sexed.

I have 2 12 week old roos, that need re-homing. No roosters allowed in Arlington. They are freindly and get along. Shake the meal worm bucket they will come running. :)

WELL, one of the Black Stars is a handsome Black w/red EE. He is very punctual if you have to be up at 6. Then one of the White rocks is a male as well. One of the Orpington's gender is questionalble too.

Going to take pictures now, I think I have some older ones on my page in my albums
