Thank u Lord!! Finally some RAIN!!! East Texas is getting Rain !!!!

mom'sfolly :

I've never seen it so brown, this early. First day of summer and it looks like October. Roadside trees are even wilting. I'm glad that it will be "cooler" today at 95 instead of 105, but man I wish it would rain.

I'm really worried about fire here in the Austin area. There are lots of people, and its dry and very windy. I'm going to be away for the fourth of July weekend, and I'm a little nervous about it.

Me too. I was stuck in traffic on West 71 last week watching geniuses flick their cigarette butts out the window and into the dry scrub along the road...

Don't you just want to jump out of the car and do this?

They are doing construction behind my house, but aren't clearing the remaining 6 acres immediately behind me (yahoo!). I worry about the construction guys flicking a butt and starting all the cedar on fire.

We are one of the few counties in east texas NOT under a burn ban although we should be it is awful......try to mow and dust just envelopes you......what little we have left to mow.....and then on top of that everything is dry and brown and what isnt dead is slowly dieing despite watering. Every time the wind blows it is like a dust cloud...at least after this morning's rains it will be settled for a day or two but we still need more....much more desperately!!!! I am thankful for what we received but please Lord let it rain some more!!!!

They had the drought map in today's paper. All of Texas is in drought conditions, and most of the state is in severe drought. I'm going to pay my water bill today, and stop in and complain about the twice daily watering of the street that happens with the new sod the city planted. New St Augustine sod on a street boulevard in the planted in the middle of a severe drought...what where they thinking? It chaps my hide that the city does this when the whole area is facing watering restrictions.

Here in South Texas we are dry as a 50 year old bone which was left drying in the sand 100 years ago. PLEASE let it rain soon.
Glad you folks got some rain drops.

Here's why there's not stage 3 or 4 water restrictions for the most part in Austin at least, may be the same in your neck of the desert:

Water conservation has taken hold to such a great extent among the local pop that they actually are raising the price of water to make up for lost revenue.
