:frowHi there @webbysmeme , your hen is really healing!

Great job with all her home health care. :highfive:
Thank you very much. It has been a hard, heart breaking experience. One I hope I never have to do again. But, it sure does make me feel good to know all of these things that you all have taught me. My husband is calling me Dr Webby now! That's too funny.

I’m wondering if you could train her to find a rabbit cage bottle by tapping on it and always put it in the exact same place......
It would definitely take patience but it would be an interesting experiment.
I have to tap on the water and food dish for both of them. I have always done that. I have a 4x4 in the coop, with the food and water positioned at one end. That has worked in there.
I might become a chicken trainer. I love my old ladies but they sure are a lot of trouble! I was looking back at some of my old post, I thought she had a heat stroke last summer and called out for help. Posted pictures of her laying in strange positions and not being able to raise her head.A lot of people said I should put her down and have her tested for Merricks. I forced water and food and she was fine later. She's a tough old girl. They both are.

Oh, I didn't realize she was blind......did I miss that somewhere?
Do you hand feed/water her all the time then, like before this attack?
Oh yes! Both of them. I don't actually hand feed, but I tap on the containers so they can find them. I have 13 more in that same coop, so if the younger ones come to close or touch them, they get upset and just turn in circles. So, that gets them confused and then they don't know where they are? It's sad to watch. In the summer I will keep them separate. But with it being -10/-20 degrees, I have to keep them all together.

I don't know if y'all can see my post from the past. You, Aart, have helped me before. As well as Texas Kiki and others that have helped here. I feel like you guys are becoming my closet friends. I had one post last summer that you might remember, "Help my rooster attacked me"!
I had to eventually shoot him. But I tried most of the suggestions that I got there. Every time I had to go into the coop, I carried some kind of weapon with me! And so on...

I was just curious about the damage to her vent as it could be a deal breaker for recovery.
Good that she's eating/drinking/pooping.
Agrees with @Texas Kiki ..she should have water available at all times.
Hard to have a dish of water in a crate tho, they always spill it...glad I went to horizontal nipples.
I'm going to switch mine to those this summer when I change coops.

This same chicken had problems I posted on May 22nd! I thought she was a goner that time two.
I offended a few people by calling these two old girls "my retarded chickens" because when they get upset, they turn in circles. I am so sorry now, that I talked about them like that. I'm much closer to them now because I have to do the extra stuff for them.
