That possum clawed one of my old girls! Help⁉️

Pics
Here she is today. She is doing so good! I thought you might enjoy seeing how much she likes a good biscuit !
She is eating and drinking every two hours. I get them both out so they can walk around a little. I put her in the smaller crate so she couldn't move around to much, so she wouldn't hurt herself. I had them both in the bigger crate in the beginning, but she wasn't getting enough rest. Her sister was keeping her awake, I think. So, I separated them.
I’m wondering if you could train her to find a rabbit cage bottle by tapping on it and always put it in the exact same place......
It would definitely take patience but it would be an interesting experiment.
When I have a chicken in a crate, since water is spilled easily, I use a large plastic coffee can kept filled near the top. It is heavy, and hard to spill if placed on the floor away from pine shavings or bedding. She might be able to smell the water and find it there. The food can go in a spearte can.

It would be interesting to see any pictures of the eyes, since it can be helpful if they are blind from Mareks or something else. Glad that she seems to be healing.
I get them out for food, water and exercise every two hours. I just don't have the time now to experiment . But when she gets healed a bit more, I definitely will try other methods of getting them food and water. The bruises are going away. And she lets me put the Niosporin on without fussing too much.

Looking fantastic! Keep up the good work!

Take it easy on the biscuits tho, lol. That’s junk food!
She needs protein to regenerate cells!

I have to tap on the water and food dish for both of them. I have always done that. I have a 4x4 in the coop, with the food and water positioned at one end. That has worked in there.
I might become a chicken trainer. I love my old ladies but they sure are a lot of trouble! I was looking back at some of my old post, I thought she had a heat stroke last summer and called out for help. Posted pictures of her laying in strange positions and not being able to raise her head.A lot of people said I should put her down and have her tested for Merricks. I forced water and food and she was fine later. She's a tough old girl. They both are.
Oh...I think I remember that thread. I did not realize this was her not that she was blind either.

The temp here today is -12*! Wind chill is -41*!
I'm getting all suited up to go check on my other girls! How often should I apply Vaseline to protect them from getting frost bite?
You are too cute Dr. Webby!
I don't know a thing about frostbite, sorry.

Well, I guess you wouldn't being in nice climate Texas! Lucky you! Wish I was there. You think I could get hired on as the local vet? lol?!!
Um sure...come on down and stay a while.

I was thinking. Do you have an empty peanut butter type container or something similar that you can cut up?

Something like this but with a bigger hole that you could wrap a wire around and attach it to the crate

Oh yes! Both of them. I don't actually hand feed, but I tap on the containers so they can find them. I have 13 more in that same coop, so if the younger ones come to close or touch them, they get upset and just turn in circles. So, that gets them confused and then they don't know where they are? It's sad to watch. In the summer I will keep them separate. But with it being -10/-20 degrees, I have to keep them all together.
How often should the Vaseline be applied to their parts that get frost bite?
