OMG I love my babies also! They are so funny and sweet. I have two aracaunas that are the friendliest birds! One is white and one is a gorgeous brown and black color, The white one is Anna and the brown is Cinnamon. They climb stairs to be near me on the porch, Cinnamon follows me around like a puppy, no matter where I go she is there and wants me to hold her all the time and even gets a little jealous when I hold Anna, They both perch on the highest thing in the hen house and in the morning I have to help Anna get off her perch or she won't come down. I am not kidding, they make me laugh everyday. I also love the way they run towards me when they see me and the noises they make are fabulous! Very vocal. I also have a Wyandott named Wyatt (hahahaha) and she is also sooooo sweet and lets me hold her and pet her all the time. She stops and puts her head down and spreads her wings and holds completely still until I pick her up. Very fluffy and fat! I also have 5 RIR who aren't as friendly but will come right up to me and are not afraid of anything. Since I can't tell them apart too well I named them A,B,C,D, and E. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would become so attached to chickens but I certainly have. I had 20, the Raccoons got 7 and we did butcher 5 but I can't bring myself to do that at all now, maybe later I will butcher the reds but right now I am getting some fabulous eggs which of course I thank them profusely for! I thought I was crazy but I can see now that I am not the only one in love! sorry for any misspelled words and thanks for letting me rant!

Sounds to me like there is "flocks" of love in here for chickens.

I must admit that I love mine also. When I hear someone say "There just chickens" that sorta eats at my "craw". I usually have to turn and just walk away from that person.

I agree with Stacy (gg) when she says "she can be having a bad day and go to the chicken coop and smile". Been there, done that to.

I can't wait till Spring '09, cause there is gonna be some new life around our little Acre of Blessings. WOOHOO

Stacy, I haven't forgotton about that duck egg.

I'm right there with you...I totally love my chickens too!
I have a few videos of them on my cell phone that I periodically pull out and watch or show to ppl bc they're just so adorable!!!

Mine are all pets and will never be eaten or given to someone to eat. They are here to bring happiness to my life and they truly do! I adore them....

Yeah well, I started out with wanting 4 then went to pick them up and got 12! Then 3 months later I had 50!

They are truly very addicting.

Yeah, I kept saying I was gonna get about 6 birds (just check my first posts on BYC). Now I've got 20 here, 5 more just waiting for pickup, and probably more to come. It's hopeless!
