Make sure that the bulb is not green because of a plastic coating on the bulb. That coating is toxic and will kill chicks.I had had 21 to get the chick brooder set up but for some reason I waited to the last minute to do itNow that I have it ready I can't find the light bulb that I had for my heat lamp. Chicks have to come out today because some started hatching Friday morning. I have a green light in the heat lamp for now and I can feel the heat coming from it. Is it OK the use a green light on chicks? I have always used a yellow light or red. The only place around me that has them is closed on Sundays.
The bulb has to be incandescent too. LED bulbs do not generate enough heat.
Check into getting a brooder plate like the one premier1 sells. They will pay for themselves over time due to lower energy costs. They are also more natural for the chicks

I took them out of the egg carton the other day and have been hand turning. Lockdown is Tuesday morning.
than they are after using the heat plate. They might bounce up to the ceiling
