Thank you! That is very good to know. Cause if I ever get one of the variety packs or something, it will be good to know what colors I have since I have no idea. And genders are harder to tell on the colored ones, right?

I can’t wait to try the eggs!! And roasted quail sounds good. But you would probably need a quail per person, right? And that’s good to know!! Hopefully mine are too if/when I get them.

Very interesting. Didn’t realize they were a dark meat but it makes sense being a Gamebird. Thanks.

Bobwhite aren’t allowed here without a permit. Just Coturnix and Button. I think they consider those domestic or livestock.

They have to be vent sexed unless they're the wild type or the goldens. Or you sit and watch them. Whoever crows are the boys.

My friend chickened out. No eggs. So I won’t be testing fertility on my new roosters until the hal. The White Cornish are just starting to lay so hopefully they’ll be up to it by then.
Check the ovum when making an omelette!

That usually works well as a fertility test

Oh this looks like so much fun!!!!! I am going to an event on the 30th and am hoping to pick up some Serama eggs. Happily able to start them on the 1st of April!!!!
I will have to follow up with the # I get to incubate!!
The more the merrier!

My hatching addiction/desire is serious... thought I wanted an IncuView for the ease of cleaning (since it’s plastic) and the clear plastic top all around for the best view of the hatch but now I kind of want to get the Hovabator Genesis 1588 (which is the other one I was considering) just because it holds a lot more eggs and I want to hatch as many quail as possible... :lau But I should probably start smaller anyway...
