  1. The ability to move to our country property even though we're living in a two-room cabin while the house is suffering delay after delay after delay (an estimated 11 weeks has turned into 6 months).
  2. Getting to have chickens (and the ability to sell my extra pullets when the house delays meant that the larger chicken coop was also delayed).
  3. Getting to know the stars. That walk to the port-a-john isn't bad when it's above 40F and not raining because it's so wonderfully dark here so that stars are GLORIOUS.
  4. My beloved DH, who surprised me with a gas stove in the house. This is typical of him being him.
  5. Our four kids, all wonderful and all wonderful DIFFERENTLY.
  6. Grandchildren!!!!!
  7. The ability to find our places in the work of our church.
  8. Family members gathering into this area so that we can see each other regular -- with jobs and houses provided.
  9. The way the internet brings people together (I can rarely see my daughter, but I chat with her on Discord at least ever other day).
  10. Every member of my family is still employed despite the current disruptions.

Yay! I have joined just in time! (Sorry for exploding everyone's notifications, but this thread is so awesome I couldn't help it!)

  1. Chickens! I love each of my little clucking balls of feathers so much! They make me feel happy and warm. They are very entertaining and cuddly, and of course EGGS! My #1 favorite food!
  2. EGGS! I love all the beautiful colors we have in our egg cartons! Eggs are so yummy! Especially the perfectly cooked, cheesy, fluffy, scrambled ones! :D
  3. BYC! I love this community! Everyone is so nice, caring, and informative! I learn a lot more than one thing every day!
  4. My (mostly) supportive family! :)D) And my friends!
  5. That I am happy, healthy, and have plentiful food and joy, even in this not so great time.
  6. Art! I love making and looking at art! It can be amazingly inspiring!
  7. Nature! If I don't go outside for too long, I start running into walls. I just do. I love the feeling of cool breezes, crisp air, bird song(birds), trees(if they're not invasive and taking over my property), the blue NM sky and wispy clouds.
  8. My house! I've got a great strong house! Although flat roofs always leak, , I can stay warm, dry, and happy!
  9. The internet. Without it, education would be a disaster with the virus! Also, BYC! :D
  10. Our pets, the ones that make breakfast, and the ones that don't! The warm furry, purring, barking(And not furry bubbing), pets that comfort me and always stop me from feeling alone! ALL THE OTHER AWESOME PEOPLE, THINGS, ETC!

I am thankful for the following things:
1) My wonderful husband, who has spent 23 years trying to keep me happy with little things like, coffee in bed every morning, helping with my chicken chores, etc.
2) My beautiful daughter, who is so self motivated and selfless.
3) My dear son, who tries so hard to be the best man he can be, even if he sometimes fails. He continues to try and perhaps holds himself to a too high standard.
4) My 2 year old granddaughter, who loves chickens as much as I do, she loves to pet them, look for eggs in the hen house, bring an egg inside, sit in the highchair and watch how it is scrambled up and cooked, the the magic of being able to eat it. (she is the only one the chickens hold still to be petted for :lau )
5) all my wonderful and helpful friends on BYC, who can always make me laugh no matter what, and are always informative when I need help.
6) Niftychicken for starting this wonderful site and all the Mods and helpers who keep this site running as smoothly as it does.
7) My first chicken, a cock bird named Roo-Roo, who I really miss and all the chickens I have had over the years.
8) Having a roof over my head and food on my table, and the ability to help my daughter to attend college, which she has worked so hard for herself.
9) A few friends that I can count on, no matter what. And them knowing I am always there for them, no matter what.
10) Living a wonderful life overall, with some pitfalls along the way, that make the good times so appreciated and worthwhile.
11) Having the honor of helping people who may have no one else in some of the worst times in their lives, while remaining kind and caring, as well as giving the best medical care possible.
12) The honor of keeping 2 people alive outside a hospital, just with my knowledge and some hard work.
13) The ability of passing on that caring to 2 children.

Happy Holidays, Y'all :frow

Day 1!
I'm thankful for:
The snow we got today
My chickens(duh)
Family
Christmas season
My dog
All y'all on BYC
BOOKS
all my Christmas shopping being done
Christmas cookies
a warm house
These all sound so trite but I truly am thankful for them! 🤦‍♀️
@4yearsofchickens I find nothing trite about the things you are thankful for, I think they are all wonderful parts of life, that, yes, you are lucky to have, as not everyone has these things. I hope you have the best Christmas season ever. :hugs
