Our first rooster was an Old English Black Breasted Red banty and the hens we had were BSL, very large BSLs. My oldest son was very excited at the prospect of having chicks from his hen, Coco. He asked me when we could hatch some of Coco's egg and I tried to explain to him why it was unlikely. I told him several times that it just wouldn't work. Rudy was just too little, but he kept asking why. Finally I said, "Son, look at Rudy, then look at Coco. Think about it for awhile and see if you can't figure it out." The next morning, bright and early, I heard my boy outside my bedroom window, laughing. He laughed out loud, good, strong, belly laughs and I heard him start around to the back porch. He came through the back door, still giggling, and into my bedroom. He said, "Momma, I figured out why it won't work, Rudy jumped on Coco's back, bit her on the back of the neck, then slid off the back! HIS NECK IS TOO SHORT!"

you sell those? I only got one to hatch and i'm in love!
Bread flour has a higher Gluten content so it makes things stiffer. You also have to be careful because it is easy to over knead the dough. To go along with the Candling Video, here is a candling picture at 6 days--Blue Egg Layers from the UofA:

I love broodies. The only problem i have is that they all seem to want to do it at the same time.

I never get broodies, 100 chickens and not a broody all summer! suddenly someody goes broody under a wheelbarrow then pops out surprising me with her chicks, Jo is broody and so is no name, in two weeks!!

Love the broodie. My just hang out in the nesting boxes. If it is the Spitzenhaubens they wont let anyone near their nests. The growl, ruffle up and bite.
