Woohoo!

Our laying hens did a new high for this year today!!! 34 eggs from 44 hens!!! That was greatly helped by our EE coop laying 12 out of 12 AGAIN!

Granted, they are all pullets, but they seem to be laying better than our other pullets from last year (BO, BA, Partridge Rock) so far. No problem with having enough hatching eggs here - just with deciding WHICH ones to hatch!

Anyone nearby need some hatching eggs? I have pure EE(hatchery quality), and Delaware roo over 4 Delawares, Buff Orpington, Black Australorp, Barred Rock, Partridge Rock, and a couple of Black & Red Sex-links.

So...........what cha got lined up?

*rubs hands together*

Let's see, I've got the following planned:

1) Iowa Blues - This 15 plus whatever I collect by set time
2) Olive Eggers - This dozen plus whatever I collect by set time
3) "Iowacana" project eggs - 8 plus whatever I collect by set time

4) Silver Sussex - 12 shipped this week
5) Blue Marans - 6 shipped this week
6) Lav/Split/White Ams - 6 shipped this week

Carefully avoiding mentally adding up how many eggs that is going to be. ;)

Wow, that is an impressive lineup Hurley!!!

I am just planning on setting a dozen or so Delawares, a dozen or so EEs, a couple of Olive Eggers from a BCM who is in with the EE roo, and a 1/2 dozen or so of Delaware x our largest BOs(we tried that last year and they grew fast so my sister wants to try them for possible heritage meat birds).

I only have one LG to use, so I can't fit much more than that.

Im so wanting my Marans to start laying...

Bah, I'm going to be very late since I'm setting ducks...but it'll be exciting nonetheless! I have to wait for my current batch to hatch out so I won't be setting until around the 10th...

I'm setting around 2 doz bantam Appleyards and 2-3 doz of a mix of Ancona and Cayuga eggs! These will be for other people :)

It's getting so close to get my eggs and for everyone to set their eggs for the hatch a long!

so exciting! This will be my first time and I'm hoping for a good hatch but don't have my hopes set to high... So I wont let myself down to much if its a flop. I'm finding the locals are starting to come out a lot now on Craigslist with chicks and eggs, so tempting! Especially the buff orpingtons and ees! Just depends on this hatch though, we only have room for around 10ish at this time until we add to the run this summer!

set your hopes high! do a little research and you will do well! here are my notes! https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/hatching-eggs-101
Collecting my eggs to set on Saturday. I believe my one SFH pullet starting laying just in time for the Easter Hatch A Long! I'm so excited. I have 2 dozen eggs so far!

Cochins and silkies and Japanese somethings and rumpless somethings and anconas and americanas and more... I had them write on the eggs, but I got home and realized that not all of them are labeled. They were pulling them out of nesting boxes for me, ad he HA collected eggs about 2 hrs ago...

Right now I have 3 dozen RIR and BA/RIR and the next dozen will have a few of my white game project eggs in with it. There won't be many since Tally is my only white hen and she just started laying a little while back. I already have 9 (I think) Peking/Mallard eggs in the bator. I have everything counted by next weekend.

Tomorrow I need to build a temporary cage for my fiance's chicken Bob. She/He has gotten too big to be in the rabbit hutch and the other chicks that are the same age are no where near the same size. I'll post a pic of the size difference between them tomorrow. I also plan to call about getting NPIP certified since I've finally done my research.

yep. Went and bought a second incubator. LOL... :)

I'm going to set the fresh variety of 30 eggs that I got today to give them their best chance. (This will only be my third incubation, and I really messed up the last one.) ...

I'm going to set two dozen Buff Orphingtons in my classroom on Tuesday or Wednesday... whichever day my student brings in the eggs. (I'll use my auto turner for those, as our spring break is coming up and I do NOT want to be up there turning eggs every day during my spring break lol...

The crazy thing is, I don't really even get to keep any of these, even though I REALLY want to...
