Oh my :-&
Well I am glad u have them now safe and snugly warm!!

Yea I'm wondering if next time ill just have them shipped straight to my home :p they probably will have just as good of a chance maybe better?! Lol but they were pretty nice. The one guy who is usually their can be such a .......(not a nice guy) lol he was in a pleasant mood today for once, probably just because how early it was. But I'm glad they are here safe too :)!!

I didnt know they were female/male. When i looked at them they looked the same. We are separating them today. they didnt look like they were killed, more like they were frozen. Will they kill them somehow that we cant tell by looking at them?

When I bred lion head rabbits I had one female stomp her babies to death. I believe she did this because one she was in a new environment (we just brought her home) and two because she had no nest box or any other place to have them in safely. Rabbits will kill their babies if they feel threatened. It was really sad but after this and me giving her some time to acclimate into her new home she made a fantastic mom.

I received 33 eggs total today and only ordered 24!

nancy was nice enough to send 6more and dick horstman sent 3 extras too! Of the silkies i received 6white, 6black, 4buff and 2 partridge

a great mix and i originally asked for more whites and blacks. All are safe and resting in the hatch/brooder room right now pointy side down

still not 100% sure when I'm going to set them.

They both did a fantastic job packaging too!

I did get a few elongated oddly shaped ones from dick, I took some a picture of them and wondering if they won't have as good of a chance of hatching or? I will post that in a little while when I get back from picking up Noah.

...oh and any clue what SPR labeled on a rir egg or any egg would mean?

spr.....silver pencilled rock
rir......rhode island red
That's what I'm thinking. Very pretty birds.
I think I have 3 so I suppose we can do this experiment together, it just seems maybe their wouldn't be proper/adequate room for a chick to develop? But maybe I'm wrong.
I've hatched plenty out of elongated eggs with no problems.

My postal lady just hand delivered my Ron Fogle heritage RIR eggs right to my front door. They left Arkansas on Monday and came straight here to Washington right on time! They are in perfect condition. Wrapped to the nines. Not overly cold so they got an x and o and straight into the incubator. I set 20 HRIR at 3:15 pm today in my LG pimped out with a hand made water weasel, glass jars of water for heat sinks, and my favorite thermometers and one combo therm/hygro.

I have seventeen Catdance Silkie eggs in the Genesis 1588 that are due to hatch March 17. All viable so far. I have five barn yard eggs under a broody due to hatch Sunday.

When the Silkie eggs are finished hatching, I'll move the HRIR eggs into the Genesis. So excited! These eggs are from my favorite varieties of chicken from my dream breeders! Here goes!

That's fantastic! Wishing you great hatches! Just warming up my LG now!

Still adjusting temp on my bator, but it's within range now. Had to break out the less accurate Hovabator because I have too many eggs to fit into my Brinsea. Hopefully my new EcoGlow50 arrives in time for these chicks. I have the 20, but it's not going to cut it for so many chicks.
