Ok, everyone. Just for your records. We had a TERRIBLE hatch.

17 set
4 clear
2 quitters
7 developed with weird egg sacs, and I know why, and I'm really ****** at my husband.

4 hatched.

So, 13 viable, 4 hatched, = 30% hatch rate, our absolute worst ever.

New chickies doing well... question - can I put them in with the broody that has two chicks she hatched? or will she know they are not hers? .
Since your broody's chicks hatched first, you probably won't be able to put the new chicks in with her. You can certainly try if they were all hatched within a day of each other, but watch VERY closely since Mama may try to kill the interlopers.

Happy Easter to All of you!

I have been excited with those with great hatches and sad with those that had bad ones!
Hatch a Longs are a great experience.

I honor of Easter, here is a Lamb laying down with a Lion picture:

hehehe very cute.

My other 2 chicken eggs zipped in the early hours. Once I heard them and got up, one of them was chirpping loud. Picked it up and went to give it some sugar water, it passed before I could get it mixed so 1 doa soon after hatch, 1 late quiter, 2 drying and 1 duck egg still waiting on.

Here are my totals for my hatch

Started with 30 eggs
removed 5 clears

25 eggs went into lockdown

19 chicks hatched

Sunday was a good day at my folks. Let the kids walk the trials by the woods and through the field of apple trees picking up Easter eggs on the way. Of course I used wasabi paste to make green deviled eggs to go with the ham. Came home and turned off the incubator.

Had 12 hatch. Now if only those eggs I ordered would arrive....
