Hey guess what I found yesterday while looking for a place to but my soon-to-be-hatched emus... A big old beautiful brooder!!! . like 3/1/2 feet long and 2 feet wide.Looks like it could hold 50 day old chicks!!!It was in my basement and forgotten ALL about since It was it was used for keets (8 years ago lol). I am so happy I found it, It will really help raising the turkey chicks or pea chicks I plan to hatch later this year.
P.s. does anyone know how many hatchers we are up to yet?

So now we need to know what an Emu "chick" is called!I just checked one of my emu eggs and it is CHIPPING,WHISTLING, AND WIGGLING like CRAZY!!! Then when I knocked the shell with my ring to listen what it sounded like, it was a very high, almost a spoon hitting a tea-cup sound. I even heard the little claws and beak scratching against the shell! Since it's peeping, does that mean that it has broken it's air sac?
Awwwww, I love watching broodies with their babies! You should have made her wait though.Due to my addition to hatching, I put some eggs under a broody hen this morning. This is the first time I've tried this, but thought my daughter would enjoy the experience. It was so cute...I placed the eggs under her and she just wiggled her fluffiness around them and settled right in.
They are adorable. Clearly, your youngest has her mother's sense of humor.Thought you would get a kick out of this. Talk about a Selfie Photo Bomb....My DD's 13 yr. old Isabel & 4 yr. old Mia. LOL!
