i would like to join in. i just got a Still Air Incubator and im really excited to use it. this is my first time attempting to hatch eggs so if anyone has suggestions or tips, that would be AWESOME. i have the Little Giant incubator with an automatic egg turner. ive got a bunch of different chickens so they will probably be mixed breeed since they arent separated but i think thats ok to start. I want to breed purebreds later but i want some practice in first. after i am comfortable with hatching chickens, ill move onto ducks and other fowl (we are considering turkeys).

Welcome, MaineiacJay, I'm so glad you are joining us. I am guessing you are close to Maine - I am close to Vermont. Last night I candled Day 14 eggs in my test hatch. All 23 eggs seemed to be alive, although there were two that were so dark I really couldn't tell much. Lockdown is Wednesday. I weighed them and figured the percentage lost to be about 10%, so I think I am pretty close to target.

Hello neighbors

Its nice to see some more people from NH. Im in southern NH.

Now the KIWI bird can lay a REAL egg! they lay the largest egg in comparreson with the rest of their body, (just in case you didn't notice.)
Ouch!
Is she a house pig? What breed? :love
Yes she stays in the house. She is very clean we give her baths all the time and doesn't shed. Vietnamese micro mini potbelly pig. She is full grown at 25 pounds.
Oh! I want a house pig now.

Holy moly, that's GOTTA hurt! It's probably the coolest looking bird too. I wonder how it incubates it's eggs?

And my Irish joke for St. Patty's Day

So an Irishman walks out of a bar...

what?

it could happen.

Welcome! Good plan too!

I'm in! Not sure yet on what all I'll be hatching. So far I have about a dozen Heinz 57 chicken eggs and 1 duck egg. I'm also getting some serama and mini NN eggs.
Welcome! Anything you want to hatch!

No sleep still, the little fuzzballs have conspired to stagger hatching all night long - on day 21 for that incubator and now 10/32 eggs have hatched. Going to be a sleepless month until Easter with the near weekly hatches. Moral of the story: tiled master bathrooms amplify the peeping a thousand timed over. So loud for such tiny chicks!
Yep, they can be loud little buggers. I can hear mine all the way across my house. Luckily, the DH sleeps through it.

Quote: Exactly! They will be great layers.

Quote: Me too, very nice!

OK OK OK I'm in

I will set 123 eggs from any local chickens I can find lol!!
Welcome!

You called that one Happy Chooks (I had a feeling that would happen too). Bought my 2nd batch of Call eggs for this hatch-a-long at about 8:00 last night, and look what Poppy did for me this morning...(the egg is actually green, don't know why the color is sooo off). Side note :God is a God of perfect timing. I have said all along, I'll bet God holds her off so that she lays the first egg exactly when she should for the set date. Do you get more perfect than exactly 6 days till set date for Calls? I think not! Maybe I should have exercised a little more faith, lol!!

The girl has good timing!

She is a happy pig. Her favorite place in the house is the kitchen because she always wants food. And then she sleeps the whole day.

She is too cute. I love your flooring too. Can pigs be housetrained?

I am so totally STUMPED!

And from which group!

I received a pack of CHICKEN BONES Candy in the mail from KY. A very cool gift and great gift for me! I love them and WANT TO KNOW who sent them to me!!!!!
