WTHeck is going on?? Today I got my Brinsea SpotCheck, Thank God!! I wanted to post this for all of you using Acurites (which is what I've always used). I knew the Acurites were off but I was really shocked by this. Notice neither Acurite ever registered anything over 100* and they have been in there since yesterday. This is so drastic I'm wondering if the SpotCheck is off, lol! Obviously I have big adjustments to make. Any opinions Ron?

Hmm that's a big temp difference...

I don't think my acurite is off, at least I sure hope not. When I have mine out sitting in the room it reads 67 which is what my house temp is set at. When its in the brooder it reads 95 and in the incubator it reads 99-100.

I can tell that you need a new thermometer. You need one that reads in tenths. I can tell you this, a thermometer that does not read in tenths will be Up to +\- 5 degrees off!

I hope to see you say that my incubator thermometer says 99.6 when......That says you have a better thermometer.

The number one essential thing you need for incubating eggs is a thermometer like the Brinsea Spot check. There are others, like I think Precision? @ChickenCanoe posted good links to them before.

Dang it! One of my hens is definitely trying to go broody. She has gathered up all the eggs and refuses to budge. Nearly deaf from her "alarm" going off when I was trying to move her. I can hear her now out there because one of the other girls is trying to get in that one single nest.

I think we get broodies when we don't want them, then don't get them if we do! Still hoping one of the 3-4 hens acting broody-ish will finally sit down for a full day. None of this peck you if you reach too close to their nest, but abandon the nest at night stuff.

Does anyone know where I can get duck eggs in Canada? I only have $20 to spend on them.. I absolutely love ducks and I've worked so hard on building an incubator.. Please someone help :/

Exactly. I wouldn't mind it if it the weather was a little more steady. Have bloody hand and ringing ears. She better stay and not get back up if she is going to do it. Just sad cause apparently she has gotten every single egg today and I got none. I guess if she is going to do this I need to fix her an area all alone from the others. Yay more work for this weekend.
