But it was a brinsea just like the one in her pic. They all come from that company don't they? I think that I ordered it from Jeffers or Cutlers along with other stuff.
Brinsea calibrates them before selling them. They even have a certified one that they sell.

Did you you see if Brinsea would replace the defective one under warranty? It might have been damaged in shipping between brinsea to the retailer that sold it.

I would trust Cutler and Jeffers. I have seen them on ebay though and would worry. Amazon would be ok since it is usually Brinsea using Amazon as a store front.

I have two and they both work perfectly. Like has been posted here, Thermometers need to be tested at close to incubation temp. They can be accurate at freezing and way off at 99.5.

Absolutely calibrate the thermometer you are using. It is hard with the Brinsea--it only reads from about 85 to 105 degrees.

????? Mine came directly from Brinsea. Do I need to calibrate it? I don't know how to calibrate any of them.
Use a body thermometer and take your temperature! You can use a body thermometer and check the temperature of the incubator.

That is very close to incubation temperature.

WTHeck is going on?? Today I got my Brinsea SpotCheck, Thank God!! I wanted to post this for all of you using Acurites (which is what I've always used). I knew the Acurites were off but I was really shocked by this. Notice neither Acurite ever registered anything over 100* and they have been in there since yesterday. This is so drastic I'm wondering if the SpotCheck is off, lol! Obviously I have big adjustments to make. Any opinions Ron?
Wow, I'm thinking you would notice the heat..wouldn't you? If it really was that high. I use the same kind of thermometers. I usually get it close to what I need, then go by hand touch. I know, when mine read 100, I'm right where I want it with my still air. But you don't have any eggs in there to touch. :/

It's getting soo close! I'm in. I will be setting a barnyard mix. Can't wait!

When do we posted how many eggs we are setting? Cause I am still looking for more...hahaha.
It will be announced in this thread, on the first post on this thread, and if we nice to ronott1 he will probably include it on the daily update.
