Some cool things about chickens.....


The chicken has pneumatic bones, making its body lighter for flying, if it had not lost the ability to do so.


There are 13 air sacs in the chicken's body, again to make the body lighter, and they are a functioning part of the respiratory system.


Chickens have comparatively short life spans. Some live to be 10 to 15 years old, but they are the exception, not the rule. In commercial egg production, birds are about 18 months old when they are replaced by new, young stock.

Figured it out. The eggs that are here..are from Arielle! Whew. And, the P.O. only gave my DH one box! That means my other eggs are on the truck. Argh! Yes..Argh! Our usual mailman isn't working today, he would have known! This lady has my eggs from a different order.

Pop the Brinsea probe into, put it into the bator at egg level and see what it says in a couple of hours.

I wonder if I should warm it up under warm water before I put it in the incubator? It's sort of cold from being on a UPS truck.

Okay random question!!! Where in your house do you all run your incubators?

I am trying to figure out which room to do. With 3 kids I can't have grabby hands that are in reach of it. My older two know better but my youngest would yank it down and throw eggs at the dog or something. I was thinking about keeping it in our bedroom on the dresser. Our room stays pretty constant. However, I am imagining that on hatch day(s) everyone will want to be gathered around... AND I am thinking the peeping will keep us awake those last days?? Hmmm just not sure and was curious where everyone else's was

I have placed mine in quite a few locations to try and see if the readouts would change. I even used putty to make it so the tip of the sensor probe was about the same height as an egg... For those that tested the spot check by taking your own temp... where did you take your temp?? lol in your armpit like a baby?
