Welcome sillycmoy, peaches, and tazcat70!

The participant list is current to post 839 where Hangtown Farms posted pictures of some cute little olive eggers.

There are now 111 participants!

Sweet! I've never done a hatch along, just hatched our first chicks 2 weeks ago, and thought it would be fun to try again for Easter. So exciting. :D

So hubby and I got a flat tire today and pulled into TSC to swap it out. Alls good until hubby turns around and sees me coming out of TSC with 2 ducklings.I had to pee and the adorable things were right there on the way...I'm sorry I couldn't help it!

I did promise no more babies until easter...then back tracked and told him I had eggs coming Tuesday. lol Told him they'll be my warm-up hatch before my Easter Hatch-A-Long.

I would have loved to see the look on DH's face! Awwww, they are so cute! I've never had ducks either.

My friend fell victim to TSC and the Khaki Cambells last night, lol! She brought 3 home

Somebody please stop me from buying eggs! Lmbo my warm up hatch is going to be larger than my easter one.

Oh well. If all holds out I will still be hatching EE Bantams and some CCL for easter. Of course it has to be blue and green eggs right?

Nothing sounds like a problem here.

Oh, yes, we flock together

. You should join the FB page Poultry Keepers of York County. Lots more of us, and we meet up once a month for drinks.
Ah man, chicken talk and drinks? Jealous!
I get made fun of horribly for my chicken meet ups. I don't care though, they are fun! DH even enjoys it and he could care less about chickens!
I'm beyond that point, lol! I've been using it faithfully for the past 3 years, and do love the stuff. This time calls for hard core chemicals, and I'm going to look into bombs. I just wish I had separate housing I could relocate them all to for one stinking week. Northern Fowl Mites supposedly die off within a week in an unoccupied coop, but I don't have anywhere to just put all of my chickens in the middle of winter. It's all good, I've got this covered...I'm in complete aggressive mode now, and I am going to win! BTW, my gorgeous white EE had a droopy apron for a couple of days, and rust color at the base of the feathers that I attributed to mud and breeding. When she started looking tired I investigated further. I can not explain to you the gagging sight that was, and even as we held her down and doused the whole vent area with Sevin, that sight was even more gagging. The white powder accentuated the pulsing mound of mites. She was the only chicken out of 30ish like this, I'm not sure why they attacked her, but I know I've got to do everyone else now, and the coops. Just be checking their vents folks...
Check into Ivomec pour on. I know it kills worms and lice, and I think it kills mites too.
I have used it in the past until my DD dumped the rest all over my basement floor. So, I hadn't bought anymore for a good while. A couple of weeks ago I spotted a couple of mites on an egg (in hindsight it was her egg). I went out right away and bought a new bottle and DH and I snuck into the coops that night and treated everybody..I searched the birds and coop then for mites and didn't see one. Now 2 weeks later this. The one thing I wish I'd have done was to put a couple of drops directly in the vent region like a few others had suggested. I didn't. So, I'm dusting, and 1 week from now, I'm going to re-dose with the Ivomec, and at the vent. The egg she laid today was free from the black speckles and super blue.

I put in a request to join the group.

I have a little chick remaining in the bator, a late hatch and in turn has a leg that is going outwards, so I put him in a peach Gerber Baby food container

"Me thinks" I will name him "PEACHES" HA HA HA

Well, if it is a "he" aren't you afraid of giving him a complex with the name Peaches??

Not really HA HA HA!!! oz always tells me to name them after a food, I like peaches ha ha ha

So I've been thinking, what am I going to do with all three emus ( if all the eggs hatch) when they hatch. I have the space for them. I was going to keep one as a pet but I guess they will all become that lol. Maybe I'll trade one for a unrelated male\female so That I can have a breeding pair.
big_smile.png
. I know I'm getting totally ahead of myself, Its all just very exciting
smile.png
. I wont count all my chicks before they hatch.
jumpy.gif

P.S. with all I've been doing incubating the emu eggs, I have sort of forgotten breeding my chickens and turkey! I would like to get a Sumatra Rooster, and breed it to some Silver phoenix hens, and see what I get. Also I would like to breed my Royal Palm tom to my Bourbon Red hen (as soon as she starts laying). So I have a lot of Projects I want to start after these emus hatch.

Lots of hatching in your future.

Insanely fun you mean? But yes, the thread moves super fast towards the end!

Now THAT is a friend.

Mike - add me to the participants list. I counted out the weeks and my meaties should be in the freezer in time. If not, I'll secretly brood them for a week in the well house. (shhhhhh, I've been kicked out of all buildings due to chick dust)

I need a stomping foot smiley.

I have 21 week-olds in the brooder and they are all so cute and all different colors but I'm trying to stay out of the brooder because they are going to my neighbors in a few weeks and I am getting attached to 6 of them.

And my 10 weekers aren't feeling snuggly today. And my adults are mad that I tricked them back into their coop to let the littles have extra time in the run today. So they were all standing in there looking out and cursing at me.

I did notice that my Roma tomatoes, carrots, chives, and cilantro are barely coming up! Woot woot!

But I think it is time for something snuggly like a
bun.gif
!!! So I guess the best way to do that is just bring one home and when dh sees it I can just say 'No returns allowed'...?

I 'm going to have nighmares about AP English!!!!
I'm in knots inside now. My body's like Oh, the stress is over, now we can revolt!!!
sickbyc.gif

IT worked!!! Not ideal but the hen stacks them too!!!
I'll have to remember that. I've been thinking about overlapping batches, but I've only got one incubator, so I'd only be able to overlap during lockdown b/c I don't turn for the first three days anyway. I've got ppl telling me not to put too many in the incubator at a time.

I saw there was 116 posts while I was writing my paper today!!!
ep.gif

I read the first page (74), but I can't read 116 posts, especially since the number grows faster than a chick!!! lol

I finished my paper today. Well, I turned in the draft they want. I'll have to edit it according to my instructor's comments, but the hard work is over.
