So does anyone know what is going to happen to computers running Windows XP?

"The end of support for Windows XP means that Microsoft will no longer push out bug fixes, security patches, or other critical updates for the 13-year-old operating system." From CNET

best case scenario - nothing

worst case scenario - a security floor gets discovered, you get hacked and someone steals your identity
Worst case can happen on any system, if it's still supported they fix it. XP just won't be fixed anymore.

After smashing my finger in the hatch of my work vehicle yesterday (breaking it and slicing it), my 16 month old sick with Croup and getting rear-ended today (in that same work vehicle) I am wayyyyy far behind(and ready for the weekend)!! Thank goodness for Rons digest!! IS IT FRIDAY YET!? HAHAHAHA!! Random thought... since I had eggs hatching last weekend I didn't want to risk anything with candling... so I am soooo waiting for saturday (Day 14) so I can candle my eggies and see how they are doing!!! GO EGGIES GO!!!

Those pictures were all so lovely!

Well I hope it warmed up some now outside. Was a bit chilly this morning. Have to try and get some work done. I will check back in a little while. Oh and I will take some pics of my chicks in my grow out pen. The lavender chick is getting so beautiful! :love

My little three week old mix, the only one to hatch (Gold Comet x Brown Leghorn Rooster) is growing fast! I'm looking at the comb though and wondering if that one little chick who made it out of the whole batch is a cockerel. I suspect the other four from my most recent batch are also all boys.

Here is the Comet cross: (Three weeks old now, nearly four)

And here is the Black sex link I made by Cuckoo Marans x BL Roo
a head spot would be an indicator of a boy, I believe.

And here is the white leghorn x Brown Leghorn, who I am not sure about yet, but the wing feathers on the three remaining birds (including this one) all resemble the black sex link boy's wing feathers. The other two are EE x BL

I noticed someone mentioned yesterday that they also seemed to be hatching all boys. Maybe my temps are too high? This batch, I had one hatch late and die, and two more never hatched.
Hmmmm. I need to keep checking my temperatures.

Hmm, funny you mentioned that. I was looking in my grow out pen yesterday and noted all the little roosters.... Do temps play any role in the sex? I know it does for alligators and crocs...

From what I understood, it's not quite the same as reptiles, where sex is actually determined by temperature, but in chickens slightly too-high temps can kill off all or most of the girls.
My eggs have always hatched early and I've always had roughly half of them die at pip or right after hatch. Granted, I've only done it twice now so I might just be worrying for nothing.

it might be a good time to tweak your bator.

I have data on thousands of shipped eggs that I have attempted to hatch but I am looking for a larger pool of variables for a research paper on shipped eggs hatchability.

Could anybody who had shipped eggs for the hatch-a-along please PM me with:

Set number
Number viable after 1st candling
Hatch number
How many you assisted
how many pipped but did not hatch
when did you start turning
how often did you turn

I will draw from a hat the name of one person who answers the questions for me and he/she will win a CocoBeachPoultry tshirt
