I gave up on my Spitzhauben they just didnt like it in a pen, even with a huge enclosure, they suggest, free ranging them

. They are gorgeous and friendly birds! I hope you have much luck with them! I still love them but it was not meant to be

Hmm I hope they can somewhat tolerate confinement. I do free range them each coop in rotation but I believe my town put a ban on free ranging. Which is better than the ban they were going to be putting on roosters, luckily I think they decided against the rooster ban.

I am getting quite excited--When I left for work this morning 5 New heritage Delawares had hatched.

In tow hours I get to head home and see how many have hatched now.

I'm so glad the roosters did not get banned---- you can live with penned hens if need be. I can do free ranging here, just a few predators to consider though. I haven't tried any of the flighty birds but after my SSH I think they are underrated.

I guess I was wrong about the rooster ban. I just went to go pick up my Spitzhauben eggs from a lady down the road and she is friends with the animal control woman who says the ban is likely going to be happening and soon
