Good luck, I just collected my first Khaki Campbell egg this morning. It has been six months since they were laying last. This is our first time raising ducks, they will be two in April. Is this long of a break normal? They did lay all last winter.
I don't really know. This is the first year owning laying ducks. Before I just raised them for meat and butchered before the winter. Mine stopped laying after the snow started falling, so December, and have just now started laying again. I have no idea how old mine are as I bought them as adults from an auction.

If you look up how much they lay, if they lay over 200 on average, they are usually year round layers. Often lights are needed so look up how much they would need to keep laying. If not, accept that you will not get eggs during that time!

so many people complain about not having eggs during the winter when you can have them! I do not want to hear it. And do not lecture me when I tell you about the wonders of lights!

Ok, now to be serious Here is a productivity chart for Ducks. Timely since we need to set some of them today!

I don't know why but the chart makes me want ducks....

I might actually have a broody now that I am collecting eggs for another person's hatch. Three girls sitting on eggs, but only one doing it from two days before - and she grabbed some food/water and went right back on. I have some older eggs (up to 11 days) I am going to toss under her so the fresh ones can go out. Time to risk life and limb touching her nest - if I type funny after this you know why!

Left for work yesterday and had a single pip when I got home I had 9 pips fell asleep woke up to see 3 hatch in 5 minutes and by the time I woke up again this morning there were 10 Woo hoo and now there is one more I still have 4 more pips Pretty sure the 7 left were some from a batch that I started in a cooler and then moved to the redwood as soon as I got it so theycould be a day or two behind I have about 36 that are the same story so I could get another 50 yet woohoo Go babies go
Congratulations!
