no one wants to come out and visit the brooder yet though lol

I'm in lock down! Come on babies. Don't have too many bad air cells in these hatch a long eggs..but..in the ones that took a week to get here..different story.
If those babies aren't pipping by the end of day 20, I go in. I see a lot of comments on not helping, but I have saved many a baby by helping if there aren't any pips by the end of day 20 in certain eggs Don't try this though, if you haven't hatched before, or, if you have only hatched a few times, unless you really want a chick. Are you keeping this chick? There may be a first time for those that want to keep their chicks.
These air sacs are waay up the side. No way that a baby can turn in these. Will be putting a ? on the ones that are real bad, put them in a different bator to hatch, so I can help them if nothing is happening.
Once you start to help..and this part is for anyone helping, then they will need help the rest of the way. If you don't have another bator, put them in a short glass and close to a broody light for warmth. I put a wet something over the egg also..helps keep the membrane somewhat moist and easy to get off the chick.
I know I am stepping on some strong opinions here for a lot of people, but I am guessing there are a lot of people that do help in certain conditions also, but don't want to say anything here..or..then there are those that have a ba gillion eggs, and don't worry about helping..or, they can get their own from the back yard. Shipping eggs aren't cheap. I love getting the breeds I want for my back yard. This is what I do to save them if needed. I have saved many that have grown to lay me some pretty nice eggs, and I can honestly say, that I have saved more, a lot more, than I have lost. I don't breed. I don't show. I just want eggs.

From a pretty nice looking bird. Yep. :)
Now, don't be mean. :/
Nothing wrong with that. Everyone has different goals for their flocks. You do what works best for you.

A rainy spring day! at least it's not cold.
I want that barn! Beautiful!

This is a weird looking egg. There is a chick, small, and it is moving.

This is the bottom of the egg, very V-shaped

This is the air cell at the top

The other eggs have basically air cell at top and chick and do not look like this. Is this okay?
Your temps could be a bit on the low side, but if the chick is still alive, leave it in there.

hello
just say if you buy fertile eggs and put them in ur incubator at 2:00pm should you turn them that evening or start the next day im really confused and i didnt turn them this time and im worried incase they die
thanks
Next day would be fine. Just turn an odd number of times a day, so that the egg is on the opposite side for the night time.

THE EASTER HATCH ALONG EMU EGG IS GOING TO HATCH WAAAAAAAY EARLIER THEN SET FOR.
MOST LIKELY.....TODAY!!! THE CHICK IS CHEEPING AND GOING CRAZY IN THE SHELL.

LOOK FOR THE EMU HATCHING LIVE STREAM LINK TODAY.

Broody mama on lockdown!

No, seriously, this is my solution for 1)keeping the other hens out of her area, and 2) keeping the babies from falling out until I can get them moved.

The top of the chicken wire is stapled, and the bottom is hooked to nails positioned to hold it down. But, I can lift it off the nails to let her out in the mornings. I did all this with her in the nest, and she never even flinched with all that hammering. Broody zen is awesome!

Hatch day is Thursday!

And I also have 10 chicks coming Thursday, so I'll give them to her too.

Good solution! Can she get water though?

could you use like a tupperwear container? do does it need holes to breath out the sides?

I do have a strawberry plastic container from the store, I could probably put maybe 4-5 eggs in it
I can tell you from experience that a tupperware container (without the lid) will not contain them. Little buggers can get out of almost anything!

Running over to have a peak! awesome!!!

What all did you enter now?
you should do every single one!

Im entering flappers later today. Gotta steal the pics from DH's phone lol He's asleep, works 3rd shift so I wont bother him now.
Also entering the dyed egg/artistic egg one. Dont know if Im gonna do one pic for each or 2 dyed pics... sometimes I can be creative, sometimes not.
So far I have entered: Natural egg, Striking domestic male, baby fowl (also includes my non feathered baby), easter/spring fowl, jeely beans, and how many eggs will hatch.
