I've got three trays in the hatcher for this round. Flock A Iowa Blues - ~50% are out of the egg today so far. Flock B Iowa Blues - first pips noted tonight. Cream Legbar eggs - subbornly quiet. Gar...those are the ones I'm dying to see hatch! Always, right? LOL I set a day early on Friday, so they're mostly on time, flock A are a bit early.

Sally, nice hands free setup. You said something about "now I can candle them upright"...lost the quote so don't remember exactly. I don't have that setup, but I just candle mine in the trays, candler on top, eggs upright and I can zip through the whole tray quickly. The only ones I've had to pick up and really examine are Marans and dark blue eggs.


Candled my recently set snowflake bobwhite quail eggs (shipped eggs), 13 of 18 developing nicely, woot!

Collected Iowa Blue 60 eggs since Monday, girls are getting into the spring swing of things.

We have ducklings!

This is the first time we've hatched ducks and we're really excited but also a bit sad.
11 hatched while we were out today. When we found out, 4 had drowned. Not sure what happened. Does anyone have experience with ducks who can give me tips?

Hi i do and ducklings have down when they hatch. When the go swimming the down gets wet. Being that its not waterproof it wieghs down the duckling and they drown sorry for ur loss.

Dont let them go swimming in anything they cant touch the bottom in. You can but you could risk losing another one .

I pipped has already hatched. That is the fast I have ever had pop out. The RIR/Lt.Brahma chick is huge!



I ran my incubator at 99. but when checked with the new brinsea spot check it said 101.2.

I can hear another one chirping but no pips. And of course, I am working tomorrow.
