@ChickenCanoe: interesting points you have raised about getting the heritage breed you worked so hard to pay for. WOW. I am new to chicken culture and way past the day when I knew somethings about genetics, but it still fascinates me. More than a few years ago, I kept a few kinds of reptiles and became aware of how all the advances in DNA technology were beginning to have an impact upon the classification and nomenclature of various species (and even genuses) of reptiles. It was a hot zone of dispute and a can of worms. I thought. I can see why showing your birds and getting "judged credentials" for them can help keep lines pure. Like Pedigrees do. My question is, do you see something like this happening for various chicken breeds? No need to answer, unless you know that already DNA technology is being used to help purify lines of heritage poultry. Am just curious. Should be a subject for a different thread, not for here. But I am interested.

Yeah my breeder shipped my blue copper/black copper eggs today so I will be able to add those to the others already set for the Hatch a long. Going to candle the first batch in a few days.

Someone burned a hole almost all the way through my styrobator. :banghead: I am not a happy person! Luckily I have a can of spray foam. Just waiting for it to cure now.

Oh no! That's a bummer, how'd that happen?

Good thing you have the can of foam handy!

Don't feel bad! I have 15 hens and only an egg or 2 a day. Good thing I have some coming from ladycats mix

19 of laying age: 2 yesterday and managed 5 today.
I have six more that are about 22/24 weeks old. Just counted 23 weeks on Thursaday. 3/12/15.
