I forgot to say how many eggs I put in the incubator in my earlier post. I set 16 altogether. 5 of which are Splash Silkied Am x Fav/Am roo the rest are Faverolles/Ameraucana.

My family and friends are past the rolling of the eyes. I really have learned also..who cares and doesn't care..that much. So, I limit my talking about my flock and hatching to those that ..well, let's face it...to those that have a flock and like to hatch too.
OH...I hear my Leghorn announcing an egg right at this moment...for reals..lol...she hasn't laid an egg for a couple of days, was starting to think she was hiding them..caught her in the nest box a bit ago. Going to get me a nice white egg. Free range egg..anyone care that I am excited that she is laying again?

Ooh I care she is laying again :celebrate I too have learnt to pick the people I talk chicken too. I do try to keep my self in check but it's amazing how chickens can worm there way into so many conversations!!

First candle for my eggs, day 6 because I just could not wait any longer 1 clear out of the 21 that I set. Very pleased and everyone seems to be developing well. Just have to wait now for day 14 or try to at least, I'm going to try my best honestly :pop

I'm excited for you! I've been home all day, and so far made 6 trips out to collect 1 egg each time I've heard the egg song.

That's why this forum is so great. You can find people who won't roll your eyes at you. Though, I've actually found quite a few people I never knew had chickens, once I got my chickens. And I'm talking about some people who I've known for at least a decade or more. I've also now had the pleasure of introducing and helping 2 other friends to the joys of chicken keeping.

The best thing about chickens is that they lay eggs. At least for those who have trouble understanding why I would want them around, I can pull that out as an excuse, and they'll usually accept it.

Now that's a party!

So all the late eggs are in, displaced from their spot in incubator #2 because I just HAD to save the goose eggs...

I need an incubator #3. Definitely a #3.

I know what you mean. My family just thinks I'm crazy anymore. Especially my mom. BUT they are always thrilled to get eggs lol. Congrats on your girl starting to lay again :)

My black/lavender split ameraucana eggs arrived today. They must've had a rough ride. They were packaged great but 1 was broken and all the air cells are either lose or wiggly :/ going to get at least a couple pullets out of them. What was everyone saying? Incubate without turning for a few days? I'm letting them rest overnight first.
