I heard my first peeps and I went to check on them and I have my first pip!!! I've never made it this far in incubation before, how amazing!!:celebrate

Great news. I was beginning to worry for u

Cracked this FRESH egg to find all these white spots. The same hens eggs didnt develop in this HAL, and she laid this last week:

In febuary i came to the coop and saw her head blown up like a balloon, which im not sure if its from being pecked in her ear as a chick or not. (She has a lump by her ear now and is deaf)

I feel like theres something wrong but im not sure what...has anyone had these white spots in yolks before?!
I don't know about the white spots but a gal from work had a hen that looked like this last year. An overly enthusiastic rooster had ruptured one of her air sacs. I don't know what she did for it but I know she has a friend who is a vet. Maybe the weird eggs are just a side affect

Pics please! This is for everyone not just @Mama Bay
Moved some more to the brooder

Wondering if my fellow BYC'ers will do me a favor in between checking for hatchlings, pipers and zippers and posting their progresses on here. That would be wishing my mother-in-law a warm welcome. She finally convinced her husband to build her a coop and she is leaving my house with chickens to start her flock. Her avitar is the coop he built for her, it's pretty awesome. No just 3. It's so weird he told me they were from the Ghost barred leghorn roo and red layer he had so I expected them all to be yellow/white but 2 more dark one just hatched but without black legs.

These sound sort of like sex links. I think you mentioned something earlier about one with a white dot on it's head. That would be a rooster when you cross a RIR roo with a barred rock. I just hatched a few of those myself and sometimes they will have black legs and beaks and sometimes they will have black and yellow legs and beaks. Or at least that is what I have been getting with my sex link chicks. They turn out really pretty and should lay really great.

I am assisting a wrong end piper, I barely know what to do...chipped away more shell from the egg but I couldn't find the beak. I think it change positions again. Every hour I should wet the membrane with warm water and a q tip right?
Ugh, this was my only Lavender Ameraucana that was showing signs of life :barnie

And....

Still waiting. Nothing yet, not even a peep.
What? Catching up. I've been real sick..glad my hatch is over...you best have a pip by the time I get through these posts! Come on chickies!

I need some help. I came home to find one of my banty eggs has hatched and I have a unique healthy looking chick except she can't walk. :( Her feet are up by her head and even when I gently try to straighten them they just pop right back up. What can I do?
