We're not getting crap for snow. We need it bad here in Nevada. It was even 71° here yesterday.... I can just imagine what my ppoor chooks are gonna fell like when summer gets here. Thank god I'm digging a pond for the ducks this spring, all they have had is a kiddie pool.

It was warm yesterday and okay this morning but then the storm came to Colorado.

I can only DREAM of that right now... Up here in Michigan we don't have NEAR as much snow as last year, but it has been BITTER cold lately!! NEGATIVE 11º F this morning and we were cheering when it got above 0º F this afternoon for a few hours!!!

I think the wind chills were in the -20's or -30's as someone mentioned earlier. I am SOOOO ready for warmer weather and Spring!!!

Also, I reserved some of LarkRise's beautiful Blue Wheaten Ameraucana hatching eggs, and I would SO love to get them in time for the hatch-along, but I really don't know if it will be warm enough to ship eggs up here in the 2nd week of March the way things are going...

On a positive note, my Partridge Silkie has wisely decided to post-pone her broodiness until slightly warmer weather, so I have hopes of using her for the hatch-along after all!

If I could I would send it to all yall! I am tired of it and so are my chickees lol My husband and I wrapped plactic around my coop and run I thought my face and fingers were going to fall off, its really not the snow that bothers me it is the ice and frigid temps we are getting with it =(

An hour, that is amazing. I need to pay you to build me one that is divided into hatching sections. I only have need of a hatcher right now and it would take me so many hours to just find and order the parts online let alone trying to get it all together correctly.

I'm not kidding, you can expect to hear from me as soon as I find a reasonable sized used wine cooler for under $75, not an 8 bottle cooler but something that could easily have 4 shelves large enough for 20- 30 eggs each.

For the cooler bators that stand on their sides so they are taller, what size coolers are best?

Next for those asking about pre-made incubators, little giant has a digital updated still air out. With all of its add-ons, fan, turner, ... it is still on the cheap side at:

And for a bit more money and a bit less space, there is the plastic Rite Farm bator: http://www.coopsnmore.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=1947

And for a great view of hatching and plastic incubator warehouse has a nice clear top incubator but it costs more.

It is -8 here. We have knee deep snow drifts you have to climb through to get out of the house and into the barn. The old snow melted and refroze into 6 inch thick ice. The blowing snow the last couple days polished the ice up really nice so walking across the yard is the biggest challenge. Thank goodness I don't have to carry water out right now!
