I wish you were closer to Tennessee. I got more than 3 dozen today! I've never shipped eggs so not really sure exactly how to get them to you safely. Planning any trips to Nashville in the next few days?

It is good having you here!
23 hens to one rooster is a bit high. He will come up with his favorites and never mate with others.
Can you cut the number down to 10 hens?
In chicken math, I know addition and multiplication. Subtraction? LOL. Just kidding, most of our cockerels and old ladies go to the freezer so I'm well versed in thinning the flock. But I'm very comfortable with our numbers right now, just gets the family eggs through the winter and enough to sell in the spring/summer/fall. I'd rather get rid of one roo than half the flock of hens anyway, to make it work. I am hoping to get a couple of good roos out of my last hatch (hatched last week) and maybe replace the one we've got with two, easier than adding one. But I'm waiting to see what grows out, if they're better than the boy I've got. My last roo (in my avatar) serviced the entire flock though, easily; I rarely found an unfertilized egg. I should have given him more praise!
I would say use the homemade for hatching (It's actually what I'm going to do because I will have a few late set ducks that need a few more days before they are due to go into lockdown!) Eggs are more sensitive in the early stages of development, so I would stick with the Brinsea at the beginning to get the best hatch rate. I have my most sensitive eggs in my Brinsea at the moment, and a run of more forgiving eggs in my coolerbator. The temperature difference fluctuation is only around 0.2 to 0.3 degrees C in the coolerbator, but the Brinsea barely fluctuates, and recovers much faster when I open it up to refill the humidity wells.Okay, I need advice. What would you do?...
My test hatch in my new Brinsea is due Friday and Saturday. But I want to set with everyone on Saturday. So here are my options. I can move my test batch to my homemade incubator -which is a little less consistent with temps, but has given me good results in the past - for hatching. Or, I can start my HAL eggs in my homemade bator and move them to the Brinsea once my test hatch is finished and I've cleaned up.
Yaay for mom! Is she on here at BYC? If not, then either she joins, or you let us know how it goes!
That is too awesome for words!!!she did join she doesnt really post to much....she only goes on my forum...lol...shes old school...but her name on here is BIRDMANSMOM....so you can add her and then ill teach her how to find you guys and post her progress....baby step before walking...lol
so yes add her as well...thanks so much
MAMA BAY, DID YOU SEE THIS OFFER??
THIS IS SO KIND OF YOU JUNIBUTT!
Move the eggs incubating now into the less reliable one. Temperature is more critical in the beginning and not as big of a deal at the end.Okay, I need advice. What would you do?...
