my NYD hatch is still inside (ugh!) but we have had an extremely cold winter here. it was nice yesterday and today, but tomorrow night lows are back to single digits and there are still feet of snow outside. Hopefully they will go out in a couple of weeks.

Moved the NYD hatch into their new grow out pen yesterday. They had been on the back porch or in the house FAR TOO LONG! They look a bit lost out there with all that room, but I am sure we are all happier now. I know DH is! We have warm weather but it has been raining for days and more rain is predicted. I put plastic sheeting up to try to keep them dry.

I just joined BYC and I'm so excited to participate. This will be my first time hatching eggs in an incubator and i'm so nervous. WIsh me luck!

so im almost done collecting eggs....I was aiming to have 3 from each of my birds that I want to hatch from, and im not telling how many birds that will be! LOL
I started collecting Monday, but if we set on the 14th ill either have EXTRA eggs to set, or ill replace my oldest....HMMM what should I do?!

Oh, extras. Definitely! :)

. I've gotten 5 eggs out of my "fun" project pens the last couple of days. I can't wait to see what I get. and I still have a couple of days to hopefully get some more eggs. My silkies and my cochin has also started laying good again so I am going to have some cutsie little bantam babies!!!!

This is a picture of my "fun" pen #1 as you can see my roo is a frizzle bantam cochin and his girls are a polish and a silkie.

"Fun" pen #2 is a mottled straight cochin roo and a frizzle cochin girl, with a black silkie and a WCB polish

I'm not exactly sure who is laying the eggs, so it is going to be fun to see what I get. I just hope some are fertile.

I've been saving eggs for over a week now. I didn't exactly plan on saving them until Saturday but I didn't realize the set date was so close! So, I'm just waiting until then to set them all! :)

Anyone log and track their hatches? How do y'all do it? I'm trying the Hatchabatch app right now, but I'm just really unimpressed with it. Not enough things for me to fiddle with, haha. I've entered in some notes, but the app scrambled the dates so it's not that handy, either.

Oh, extras. Definitely!

oh poo...LOL I not even sure! most of my eggs im hatching are test hatches so I can see if I can ship the eggs. me of them is from a roo covering his sister, and others are from a roo covering his mom and 3 sisters. ive read I can breed brother to sis, but not too much. to play the safe way, seeing how these hatch out, and ill then be selling all the offspring of these guys.
im not wanting to hatch too many of these guys because I don't want to be stuck notable to sell the started birds...

should be able to breed this way and hey hatch out fine...right?

My wife is so sneaky!!! She told me to get the incubator (LG still air) out and get it ready for the HAL. I went to my man cave where I keep my stuff and she had got me a brand new FI 4200 she had it setting on top of my Lg. Gotta love surprises.
