Today is an awesome day!! My broody hen has finally settled and joined the HAL and my kiddos have put together a homemade incubator and warmed it up to join also. Do you know what that means?

Incubator Wars!!

Contestant #1 is Mom with a store bought Little Giant still air incubator with an automatic turner, 26 eggs.

Contestant #2 is a group of 3 young men ages 11, 9, and 5 with their homemade incubator that the eggs will have to be hand turned, 3 eggs, one for each of them.

Contestant #3 is Speckles, a young hen in the midst of her first laying season, she will be doing double duty as turner and incubator, 8 eggs.

The eggs are all in and warming up, folks. This is going to be an exciting match up to see if these 37 developing eggs will all hatch, and which of our three incubators will have the most success. Keep your eyes peeled and get your votes in. We are just beginning this HAL and anything can happen!
This is very exciting!!! I put my vote in for the 3 young men, go kiddos GO!!!

So after everything was said and done I ended up setting 87 eggs total on Saturday. I was waiting to see if my cochin was going to sit, but unfortunately it doesn't look like it. Maybe I can catch her a little later in Spring.

That is great! I'm pulling for the young men. (But I'm a mom of 2 boys)

Maybe she'll go broody before they hatch and you can put some of the partially developed eggs under her.
