You are correct for this HAL purposesSomeone asked about hatch rate. I believe It is a calculation of the total eggs hatched divided by the total eggs set.
The best hatch rate in this contest will be just that (that is why we have to disclose how many we sett followed by how many hatched).
Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.
Quote: Great going!
Well that is the input, what is the output? It should be 6, 9 or 12110 v power
You can see them wiggle in egg cartons, but you have to stare really hard! It's difficult to see.Well, today is day 19 for us. Went into lock-down yesterday. No signs of chicks hatching yet. Can you see movement if your eggs are hatching in egg cartons? When do they start to cheep? I am really scared that our lose wire temperature spike did them inWish me luck!![]()
I went to our local TSC and they had Blue Andalusian chicks for $1.99 ea. and I soooo wanted to get some, but the hubby gave me "the look" so I guess I'll just have to wait and see how ours hatch. Foo!![]()
I'll bring it up to the rest of the Staff.@Happy Chooks true, but isn't that a published article, and not just a forum thread? Since it's been brought to attention, maybe it should be reviewed? I assumed that published articles went through some sort of quality control (unlike the forum, which I assume are more personal opinions)
Lay it on it's side for hatch. I'm assuming it is not pipped yet.I have an egg that is on day 18 today-well, yesterday, since it's after midnight, that has the air cell at the small end of the egg. No wonder I couldn't see it last time! What should I do about that, anything?
Looks like a pip.
Yes, I've seen them and they are very cool. They are basically a sucker off of "normal" redwood trees. There are some albino trees in the Redwood forests of California. They actually survive off of a type of parasitism by fusing their roots with the normal trees![]()
Some people calculate it by # of eggs hatched divided by # of eggs set. Others calculate it on # of hatched divided by how many eggs developed. (fertility)Can someone tell me how to officially calculate hatch rate? If you candle and remove them if they are clear or have stopped developing for whatever reason, do you still count those?
We don't have the best/worst hatch rate contests this year.Someone asked about hatch rate. I believe It is a calculation of the total eggs hatched divided by the total eggs set.
The best hatch rate in this contest will be just that (that is why we have to disclose how many we sett followed by how many hatched).

For the purpose of the HAL, they are only taking the #set & #hatched, but as far as I know I haven't seen anything for a best hatch rate either.First, there is no hatch rate contest listed for this hatchalong so don't know if official is warranted here.
Different people calculate hatch rate based on what they want to know.
Divide the number of chicks hatched by the number you set to get your most basic hatch rate.
You can divide the number of developed eggs that go into lockdown by the number of chicks that hatch to see a more defined hatch rate.
If you are doing a fertility check on a pen/flock. Divide the total number of eggs set by the number of clear (non-developing) eggs to tell you what percentage are fertile..and then the number of fertile eggs by the number that make to "lockdown" or hatch to get the hatch rate for the pen/flock.
Hope that is not TMI!![]()
Oh boy they are blending huh!?
Quote: There is no hatch rate contest in the Easter Hatch A Long. We record the number set and number hatched for the "Guess the number set/hatch" contests.
