So I have a question for everyone... I have a chick that's about a week old and is consistently chirping, and I don't see him eating or drinking at all.. I've tried bringing him to the water and dipping his beak and still he doesn't drink, same with the food.. He just stands in one stop with his eyes closed chirping while all the other chicks are very lively and trample him over at times... What should I do?

He isn't feeling well make sure his bum is clear of poo or goop. Was the egg damaged or rough housed at all during incubation? I have had that happen before with a couple of mine.

I am SE Tenn near Chattanooga and hardly anything goes on on that thread. I'll be okay, ((sniff)) i'm a big girl ((sniff sniff)). LOL just miss all the action.

Check out the Middle Tennessee thread. It is more active than the Tennessee thread. We have people on it from the Smokeys to Memphis. We would be glad to have you!

Red! So happy for you! Sounds like you will be getting more too. Interesting how a different room can make all the difference..well, and a good thermometer.

You've been asked if it has a poppy bum, what about putting it in a cup for a while..give it a tiny amount of electrolytes a couple of times a day. Put a paper towel in the cup to keep it from slipping around.

Just sharing some pics of my brooder. After I was able to cut the number of chicks down to 10 from 47, I transferred them to this brooder in the garage at six days old. The brooder is inspired by one of the brooders on last years Easter HAL. Since its sitting on a desk and I have plexiglass front, I can have a nice view while relaxing in a chair. The plexiglass slides out for easy cleaning. I use several pieces of wood on top to regulate the desired temperature for the day. The light/heat bulb is sitting on hardware cloth so no risk of falling inside.

Is it cold in your garage? My Brinsea Exoglow is warm enough without a heat lamp.
