I calibrated my dang thermometer and moved the incubator to my husband's man cave. Worked great!
Quote: Nice brooder. I don't think you need the heat lamp and the ecoglow. (depending on your temperatures outside) I use an ecoglow and a 25 watt red party bulb (no heat, just light) and I brood in this. This was several years ago as we didn't have a good winter this year - and yes, there were babies in it. It holds heat really well (better than a garage), so you need to see what works for you.
Nice!
Here's my brooder/grow out pen I made last weekend...the Brinsea EcoGlow "Mama" is in the wood enclosure.
Four babies out so farTwo were shrink wrapped and required assistance. For once, I'm glad the call of nature woke me!
I'm so glad you FINALLY have some babies!![]()
Me too! They are lively little things and happy to be here, it seems. No more pips yet, but I had a lot of eggs go into lockdown so we'll see what happens.Nice brooder. Is it cold in your garage? My Brinsea Exoglow is warm enough without a heat lamp.

Its cold and damp in my garage and they were huddling under the Ecoglow all the time. But then I am thinking, I hatched some chicks on November 1st via a broody and although she was the Ecoglow, they did come out to eat and drink in the 40s and 50s temp they had in the coop. Perhaps I will slowly start changing the wattage on the bulb instead of a sudden change.![]()
