:idunno I have absolutely no idea what she is/has in her. I got her egg from a farm that has been breeding tons of mixed breeds together for so many generations that they are all completely mixed.
I just got to Wyandotte chicks that's why I asked. This is what they should look like when they grow. Looks a lot alike.

Oh I am excited. I just got done making a fun soap for a hatchalong prize... it has egg in it, so I figured all you poultry folk would enjoy that. I can't post a picture until I cut it, and I can't cut it for a day or so...
awesome Thank you!!!!

I might join this time with goose eggs possibly three. If she lays them in time.

Quote: dawwwww Love ya Cynth!!!! how is hubby? any great plans for the weekend?

Here in Florida, cocci can be a huge problem. I vaccinate for other things (avian encephalomyelitis, pox, and equine encephalitis - the enchephalies are also an issue in this area!) But not cocci. I feed chicks that are on wire unmedicated feed. I switch to medicated a week before they touch the ground and for a month after they have been put on the ground. All quail get medicated until around 4 weeks old. We have a somewhat local feed mill (3 hour round trip) that I buy all my feed from in bulk (2000+ lbs every other month) and they make a quail starter with cocci medicine (COBAN - monensin sodium) which is lucky for me. So far, I have not had to do any additional treatments with corid... EXCEPT with turkeys, as the Coban is not good for them, so they get unmedicated feed and corid (amprolium).
interesting!! thanks for sharing

Today is Day 19 for my test hatch and had power outage for about 2 and 1/2 hrs. I first placed the incubator on top of the hot water pipes and covered with blankets. It caused humidity to go up the roof. Then I started calling friends if someone would possibly be home early so I can move them to their place. Finally found someone and in my rush did not place anything inside the incubator to keep the eggs from rolling. By the time I got there, DW called that the power is back. I think in my haste and panic, I have done more damage to the eggs transporting back and forth than the power outage would have done.
GO BABIES GO!!! they will be fine!! at that stage they can take some tossing and heat loss, how high did humidity go? at least the temp went down a little when it happened right?

Holy WINDY day, Batman. Wonder if I lost any chickens to the next state.

My rooster got dubbed Fabio today with his amazing hair in the wind.

(This wind is getting ridiculous!)
Gosh I love them!!!

Thank you. By the way I do have cocci issues here. I live in Florida, very humid a mostly wet in summer. What is flockraiser? Is it expensive? I give corid the first week, keep them clean, change water daily, change bedding every 3 to 4 days and I still lose half of my babies. I also have flow pox which I have been able to get under control. The flow pox starts showing at week 5, I have those with vitamins and electrolytes and I put iodine on the bumps when they show. I was losing half before now I have managed to not loose any to flow pox.Wish I could say the same with cocci.
Flockraiser is an all age poultry feed made by Purina. It's more expensive than layer feed, but it's 20% protein. Adults, chicks, ducks, turkeys, etc can all be fed it.

Good advise from someone that deals with it regularly.
