I hope Jet's eggs turn out that pretty. I haven't had her long, so she's still adjusting.

I completely adore those eggs! They're stunning one of our EE lays a light blue but its so light its almost white. We also have one that lays a bit darker blue green egg(more blue than green) and two that lay green and light olive. I hope to get some bright blue layers from my MPC "eggs for education" hatching eggs that I'm going to be hatching for the hatch-a-long. They also said they'll try to include some lavander Ameracauna eggs I so hope they make it and hatch pullets. But I'll be grateful for anything.

Hey Everyone! Update on my 5 month pullet, Jasmine. We decided last night to treat her with corid in case it was cocci I wanted to treat it fast. This morning she was not 100% but quite a lot better. She was even feeling well enough to give us a hard time catching her but as always settled down once caught. Despite pulling the feeders out all the birds managed to cheat and eat the food that fell through the grates the feeders sit on(didn't know they could get the heads in there) so her crop was once again full. I felt of it again and still feel no hard masses. She also ate some scratch from my hand this morning with gusto, something we couldn't get her to do at all last night. It's very sunny today and the sun is warm so I let the flock out and she is out with her two sisters sun bathing.

We decided to treat for cocci based on how wet it has been here and that the flock has been drinking from puddles(also that it wouldn't hurt her, which are all frozen today. Our whole driveway was a pond for several days now most of it is an ice rink.

I will keep a close eye on her until I am sure she is completely well and will continue to give you updates. We have also not seen her shake her head at all this morning which was almost constant yesterday and her tail is held almost as high as normal. Her head is still not as high as normal but we'll see how she continues.

This is Jasmine when she is well.

Glad she is improving.

Stunning eggs! My black Ameraucana's never laid that blue!

I really want some lie egg layers. I have one who lays an olive color and I love them but I see all the pretty blue eggs and I want a bunch of colors

I decided, after doing the math and the projected income, emu just aren't in my cards

eventually we plan on buying the pasture near our house and if we do, I plan on refencing it with 6 foot fence, and then emu would have a bunch of space to run. We kind of have the space now... but it would mean turning almost our whole yard into a emu run since I would want it 150 feet or more. Oh well. I can still dream about it!

I also had a chance to get 2 trios of silver pheasants, a trio of red golden, and another pair of yellow golden, and 6 other males... and decided it too wasn't a profitable purchase. Disappointing, but really think it is the right choice.

Sigggggghhhhhhhhhhhh.

Darn you reasonable thinking!

Yep, I've had to do the same thing time and again. Its really obnoxious, but its what lets me afford the animals I do have, so I've got to be thankful for that.

By the way, my reasonable thinking is called "my parents".

(Not saying they are obnoxious or anything.

I wish I had a blue egg layer. Those are stunning!

We have a couple of green egg layers, but green just isn't quite the same as robin's egg blue. I guess I have to wait until I can get some Ameraucanas.
