The 8th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!!!!

I just got my call. Eggs aren't on the no movement list and they aren't worried about eggs or anything else coming from AI tested clean sites.

At least the ehal is still on for me.
YAY!!

My free ranging has certainly ended until we're clear. I hate to do this to them, but the birds I kept when I sold my flock are some of my absolute favorites.

I wasn't keen on it either but keeping those wild garden birds out was necessary, better than losing all my birds.

:yesss:

So I'm freaking out over here. Alabama has put a freeze on poultry movement. Nothing in, nothing out, and no sales. Two flocks are being tested in North Alabama because it's suspected that they have AI. One is a commercial farm and the other is a backyard flock. It's a ways from me yet, but the idea that my flock could get infected is terrifying. This could also mean that I won't get my eggs next week and those are my ehal eggs.

But eggs are not poultry yet and it's not transmitted in the egg

Try not to panic

21 days is just a guide. Have your temps been ok during incubation? Did you count the day you set as day 1 or after a full 24 hours of incubation?

Thank you. I set the eggs on February 21st at around 8:30pm. So, if I don't count the 21st then I guess it's only the 20th day today? But I was also told, if you set them on a Tuesday they are due to hatch on a Tuesday. I have the Brinsea Mini Advance and temps have held at 99.3-99.5 without any issues. However, that's me trusting it's calibrated properly.

Hang in there. Lately mine have routinely been hatching on day 22 & 23. I think my incubator temp is running a bit low.

Thanks to you, as well! I'm just so afraid I'm staring at late quitters.
