The 8th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!!!!

The egg that busted when I moved it to the hatcher didn't make it.

But I have one zipping and I see 17 pips so far

6 chicks this morning out of the 10 shipped eggs. Pretty happy about that! Would love to see another one or two more but I don't see anymore pips. My experience tells me that is probably it. I always leave the remaining eggs until day 22 but have yet to see a late hatcher. Any opinions or input on late hatchers?

Hello From The Cottages!
We have 44 that made it to Lock Down. and we are a day behind most of you, I target Easter Sunday for the hatch, because that's when our residents have the most visitors, Grand children, Great Grand children, and on occasion Great Great Grand children. Our first contest is going on, and many await with great anticipation, staff as well as residents. Best Wishes.

Dear BYC,
The pip on the egg next to the baby is gone. I can't find it on that egg at all. I don't even see a hair line Crack. I think the baby rolled the egg over it and closed it back up. Should I be concerned or will that baby be ok?
Sincerely,
Scared in SC
No worries. The newly born chicks will often bump into their broodmate's eggs, bumping and rolling them. At first it looks frightening, but they do turn out fine. Looking at the enlarged picture, I see several eggs with what look like pips, so I'm sure he will have pals in no time. Hang in there :)

It's 3:45am and I can't sleep! The incubator is in my office right next to me and every once in a while I hear a peep, but no external pips yet! It's not officially hatch day for about 5.5 more hours, so I shouldn't even be getting hopeful yet!

Stupid insomnia.

Anyway, super excited to see everyone's little pippers! Looking forward to adding my pics to the bunch over the next 24 hours!  :fl

i often sleep in the livingroom which is where my bator is. i only slept a few hours because of the chirping. I finally removed the htched ones to the brooder. Im going back to sleep now, I hope
